Dear Readers :)

Greetings of the Day!!

I own a 5.1 home theatre receiver Philips HTR5205 for the past 4 years. The reason for contacting you guys is that recently whenever I play anything through it (DVD, TV & Radio) it gives a peculiar sound of "???-???-???" from the speakers in-between the playback.

I took the system to Philips service center , who kept the system with them for testing purpose and then returned back to me after few days saying that the card needs to be changed and since the product is discontinued now, they would not be able to change the card.

Now I am looking for a reliable mechanic in Delhi Region who would be able to help me out at a reasonable cost.:sos:

I would be really grateful to you guys If you can suggest a good mechanic in New Delhi along with his contact details.

:signthankspin:

Warm Regards

Umesh

Hi Umesh

Sad truth is that such systems which are HTiBs (Home Theatres in a Box) lasts well for 2/3 years..after that issues start cropping up and parts are not available. You will spend more on repairs and locating the required pcb card to make it work well.

You can purchase a new HTiB which would typically start from 7k onwards.....my advice would be to purchase professional home theatre systems like Pioneer, Yamaha or Onkyo which start from 22k onwards...they perform better, last for years minimum 10 if used in the proper way.

Dear Efernand

Thanks for the reply....:)

Means that my HTR5205 has become trash  :annoyed:

Please suggest a model for the brands you have listed along with their pros & cons.

Regards
Umesh

Hi

Go for Yamaha YHT196 or YHT199. Audition the same at Vijay Sales / Croma / Reliance Digital and then check with local Home Theatre dealers for the best price.

There is a thread on Owners of Yamaha on HFV, you can read related posts there.

These are home theatre packages...since I have the 5.1 speaker set from my HTR 5205......please advise about the receiver :)

Thanks a lot buddy :signthankspin:
