Came across this forum while searching for options to use my box speakers to connect to PC.

I have two box speakers and two surround speakers that came along with the sound system that I purchased almost 10 years back. Now the main unit has become non-functional...so I thought of utilizing the speakers which was lying idle.

My speakers look exactly like this in the link below

http://www.njuskalo.hr/image-big/zvucnici/zvucnici-kenwood-ls-n551l-slika-9154697.jpg

The configuration written at the back of speaker is

Max input : 100 W
Impedance : 6 Ohm

I was looking out for a not so expensive option to power my speakers and connect them to my PC.

It would be great if any of you can guide me with price and other details....

Thanks

Hi johnrenosh,

For starters, why dont you look up This Thread.

The original poster was also working through a similar dilemma, and seems satisfied with the solution. Also, for amplifiers on a budget, Bombay seems to be the best place. Look up Norge, DNM, and others. These brands have many customers on this forum.

A little search on Indian companies through the forum's search feature will go a long way to answer your queries.

All the best. :)

Any idea on the sensitivity (or) efficiency of the speaker ? (Expressed in db)

If you have the manual of that system, you can find it from there...

If not take the speaker model # and search it in google & you will get the efficiency

Based on the efficiency, you can get close to the required amplifier....

Don't think your PM facility is activated. Let me know your email id in that case. Might have something that could interest you.

Today i went to have a look at the amps at my place...since m on a very tight budget(max 1.5k)...I saw few Delhi made amps ranging from 800 bucks.......will these amps screw up my speakers?

John,

I would advice you to check out for a Pre-owned Amps, and i believe at your budget you can try out for the Sony Mini-Hi-fi deck is possible else check whether any Old technics\sansui\sony Tape recorder cum Amp stuffs are available. Mumbai the best place to get pre-owned good stuffs. You should be lucky if you get anyone of what i have mentioned.

You can connect the Amp from the computer and enjoy the music.

I assure that you would listen some solid sound. All the best friend

Speakers I dont know, but these will definitely screw the sound! Dont even think if them. Once I was also looking for these, but then better sense prevailed and I saved a 1000 bucks :)

If you are game for DIY, you can consider LM3886 based stereo board from ebay or elsewhere. Though the budget will stretch to 4-5K.

Today i went to shop which sells second hand stuff...he had Kenwood and Technics amplifier for 4k.....I can stretch my budget to max 2K...thats the constraint with me....now I am thinking of selling the speakers....What do u guys suggest...shld I keep them as dey can be helpful in future? If at all I decide to sell of how much should I quote for the 2 speakers + 2 surround speakers....

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
