Hi Friends,

I was trying to compare LG, Samsung and sony LCD models. I am not able to get response time parameter for the sony models. Why don't they publish it?
Sony's LCD panels response time is good or bad?

Thanks,
Prakash.

well sony and samsung models do have higher response time natively about 25ms if they use a SPVA panel about 16ms if they use a AMVA/SMVA panel, but they use overdrive or RTC to lower the response time.
anyway the response time of these tvs are so low that the majority of the lcd users won't know the difference.

Response time is hardly a major factor to consider for an LCD purchase these days. Most manufacturers are pretty close to each other in terms of response time numbers that it may be difficult to notice differences
However if you are into gaming a lot you should factor input lag which could be a bigger concern and off late they have been quite bad for Samsungs and Sonys. There are generally no official figures for this. Approximate values and viewer perceptions are available on major review sites and forums.

Thanks adder. I see that LG has a 2ms response time. But 25ms of sony/samsung seems to be bigger and plasmas has almost 0.001 ms response time. How much will this affect the picture quality?

Prakash.

well the stated response time of the LG is after RTC or overdrive.even the samsung and sonys have a response time of about 5ms to 6ms after overdrive.in todays world the advertized contrast and response time means nothing.

response time makes negligible to no difference in PQ. in case of realy fast action scenes then yes a lcd with lower response time is a bit better, but then again one has the 100hz/200hz function, some may not like the added effect but many like them.

the newer upcoming tvs from sharp and sony like HX900 has the new UV2A panel, which natively has much better response time, supposedly in micro seconds vs current milliseconds, sony lcds with these panels are advertized has 400hz KDL-46HX900 (KDL46HX900) : TV and Home Cinema : Sony.

Do all TVs with the 100Hz (or higher) TruMotion have an option to turn off this feature?
And does trumotion make really that big of a difference??
