May not be the forum for this query but am planning to install areverse parking sensor in the Honda city I am buying - Any suggestions on which co to go for and whether I should consider a) ones with a camera ; b) ones that clip on mirror and beeps. etc.

I have installed reverse sensors (aftermarket one) on my Civic. I have the one without camera and the clip-on mirror with display/beep type. My observations are as follows:

- Camera equipped sensor is costly and there is extra maintenance of cleaning the camera (especially in rains). The benefit is not that great. Not VFM in my opinion.
- the clip-on mirror is not the day-night type with anti-glare setting; i realized this after installation and it is a pain in the night with everyone riding on high beam

My opinion is you should install one with a display that is mounted on the dashboard (corner of driver side door).

Actually even ordinary beeps are good enough - i.e., display is not really required. Because once you get used to the car back and corners, you do not have to know where the obstruction is. If you must have a display, do not have it as a clip-on mirror.

Hey bro, recently got a city myself and was in the same dilemma.
Anyways i got mine fitted from honda itself. Reason? To fit parking censors the bumper needs to be drilled, risk of color. Second the censors available after-market and the colours available in the new i-vtec dont match. Kinda looked weird.
For my peace of mind, just asked honda to install their own censors. BTW, i installed one without camera, dont think a camera is required.

I just let another person help me. This even establishes an initial contact with strangers.

Usually I don't need any help and the rear view mirrors work well for me.

(not a single dent in the rear and I park really close to the rear walls, cars behind my car or whatever objects are there.)

i second that...just go with ur dealer installation..its complete peace of mind ..

The type I installed in my car (non Honda) is LED bar with beep. Also it has color matching options. So far 5.5 years without issues. That serves the purpose. I never look at bar indicator. That beep sound happens quickly and coverts to continous beep tone once I near to rear wall by 15". With RVM one can look and take the judgement and park easily.

For installation please look at warranty conditions and refer dealer.

Last 3 years I use the sensor with Beep sound and LED indicator. This is more than enough in city usage. In place like kerala I felt the need of reverse camera. You can find lot of grass on road sides and sensor without camera beep & misguide .

I also have a reverse camera in my Chevy Cruze with parking sensors and I find it's great. Really spoils you and makes reversing a chore when I drive my Civic, which doesn't have either. The display is on the CASKA seven inch screen in HD so the image is crystal clear.

I have Ford Aspire which doesn't come with parking sensor in any variant. It has shiny maroon bumper which I don't want to drill for these sensors.

I searched on Google to find any alternative way and finally I found electromagnetic parking sensors rather than using traditional electroscopic parking sensors.

I looked for this sensor in market but it is not available. So I again googled for it and finally I found it on

Some basic things I want to share with you guys which I came to know about electromagnetic.

In Electromagnetic parking sensor kit, there is a adhesive metal tape which stick inside the bumper which works as a antenna. It get sticks from start to end of the bumper so it's coverage is 100%. Its connects to a buzzer which beep sound at three frequencies at three different levels. At 3 feet, 2 feet and 1 feet far from the object. Good thing about this sensor is it can be connected to any vehicle no matter front or rear bumper. It just need 12v DC power which is common all the cars.

So I installed it on both the bumpers. One smart thing I done is, I have given power to parking sensor in front bumper by fog lamp so whenever I need parking aid I just turn on fog lamp and parking sensor get activated. By doing this I can save myself from unnecessary alerts.

How did you fix the sensor tape on the bumpers? Did you have to remove the bumpers? How sensitive is it compared to the normal ultrasonic sensors?
