Hello All,

Can you guys please advice about the performance of Sansui AU-X1?
How is it when compared to AU-717, AU-919, AU-D7 etc?
If anybody is using this Amp, kindly suggest your feedback also.

Got following review from the site audioreview.com:

"Product Description

The AU-X1 was the flagship in the Sansui portfolio between 1979-83. It is one of the mightiest and best sounding amps of its time - and beyond. 160 wpc rms at 8 ohms, weight almost 28 kg. More a power amp with controls than a conventional integrated amp, but it has phono MM/MC and many other in-/outputs. Lacks tone controls, though.
Some (first version) tend to oscillation problems, others (later) don't. One of the best amps ever."

Having said the above, I have also read somewhere that this model had a few issues and unless it is restored by an expert, it may have recurrent problems.

Thanks for the helpful link...I am a big time Sansui fan, and own AU-999 and AU-D7...may be I will get lucky enough to get hold of a AU-X1 sooner or later...however your list of Sansui's are also mouth watering...
Anybody in the Forum using AU-X1, please share your feedback...

Sir I have this Sansui AU X1.
I m using it daily.
Its a fantastic amplifier to listen to having very low THD Value of 0.007 - 0.003%.
Its a very fast amplifier having a very fast slew rate way ahead than sansui au 718/919.
Starter models hav been known to have stablity issues because of failing very small so called black gate capacitors present in the protection board.
My amplifier is in dire need of re-capping..
I hav not did any mods in it and its very stable till now from its birth in 1979.

Lets check if Akshay in Mumbai still can find time for your X1. He did my D 11 including the phono stage and also earlier did for 717. Pretty perfect job.

With the inflated $ US, the Caps cost a lot these days and you need to get those shipped from US. Takes time, but what you get after that is nirvana :)
