I bought this from an FM on diyaudio two or three years back. While testing it with a temporary power supply then, I connected the filter cap in reverse. Predictably, it blew, taking with it some components on the dddac too.
Couple of months back, I decided to see if I could repair it. Some trouble shooting revealed that only the voltage regulators, and the wm8804g Spdif convertor I had blown. Thankfully, the rest of the board was ok.
Replaced the blown components and I now have a superb dac, complete in it's new home. A shielded and copper banded 0-15V transformer feeds the sigma 11 regulator to provide a steady 12V. The output of the 4 deck dddac is transformer coupled via high quality sowter transformers.
Sounds fantastic.
