Why are you or anyone would be listening to great western themes? What mood does one have to be in to decide to listen to this?

Interesting question. Guess one has to be a western movies buff who loves to get back to the era. The themes do recreate the atmosphere - cowboys, gunfighters, Stetson hats, horse riders, sheriffs, outlaws - the whole charm of the Old West of the 19th century. I believe one has to be in a nostalgic mood - usually the teenage/young adulthood for those in their 50s-60s when these films used to be screened in India. The music itself is different from most OSTs - it has elements of country, folk, classical, Mexican and native music fused to create that peculiar ambience.

I have been a late adapter to western cinema and saw many of the western much later in life. I am not a true blue western fan, but I do love the sights and sounds of those moves - especially those instruments.

An insightful article into the music of the western movies:

I had to watch this especially since you said it wasn't for the faint hearted. the gory animation was brilliant. quite mild by today's standards. thanks for sharing

Not much of any movie fan, but used to watch western cowboy movies. You probably know all famous movie. My favourite is 'Once upon a time in the west'. A superbly stilyzed movie. A little long perhaps. But you can compare it to Popular Bollywood movie. But more refined and stylized. I guess it didn't get critics approval but decades later it was cult movie to go to for students who want to make movies.

On Topic : Western themes I do listen to them. Have clinteastwood movie vinyl. Whatever emotionally connects with from Disco to beethoven one should listen. For records western classical orchestra regularly conduct Popular Movie and western movie themes.
And more for the record Morricone had classical education.
Regards

Brilliant animation I found in 80s 'Tron' movie. With little resources the attempt was excellent. Movie was good too. Master works was shown in hand drawn animation in Snow White (Walt Disney) Movie. Recent movie to make me notice was Jursasic Park (1). Now most resources (Fast computers, Pens, 3d Scan are easily available) So not much to be surprised.
By the way I love Animation. And wanted it as a career in 90s have learnt 2D Animation. But life took different turn.
Regards.

I am posting a new thread on the Spaghetti western music genre.

It is easy to relate to the music and the mood if you have seen the movie before and of course you have to be in a bit of nostalgic mood as Sachin rightly pointed out. In current times with lockdown and work from home a many of us have spare time , so for the uninitiated it is a good time to explore this genre of movies and music.

I didn't quite understand the questions o_O
Was just curious. I don't think I could stand more than 15-20 minutes of spaghetti western music before my ears start bleeding. They go very well in the movies they are for, but outside the movie they lose all context and sound all the same. I mean how many times can you really listen to Rawhide?
