Yamaha released RX-V 475,477,479 & 481 models after RXV 473.. Almost 4 years old model.. Should be 2012 model..

Think you should drop it.. Not worth it.. What is your budget for the AVR?

Depends. What speakers are you going to use with it?and how big is you room? I have the Rxv477 and am quiet satisfied with it. the features are excellent and the sound is solid for movies.

Hi Dr Arun

Based on your connectivity requirements, features expected and budget....you should go for that AVR.....check other brands also which can be better in performance....

I am just buliding my home theater .. Ordered a BenQ W1070 and am now looking for audio options .. Yht 299 was my first preference , got this offer from RD when in was searching for 299. 45-50 will be my budget .. Room is 12*16 ..

I would not.

Save up and a buy a more newer model as it will support newer codecs and avoid legacy connections. However, the minus is that you will loose build quality as you buy newer and newer models.

Two things come to mind, "Caveat Emptor" think hard and decide.

Me personally, I WOULD NOT buy it, however, I would buy a top of the line older model, not an entry level older model. Hopefully you are not getting a demo piece?

30K for such an old model is too high in my opinion. I sold my 2 year old 473 for 16K - it was used very less and was as good as new. But the AVR itself is solid and has all the features to satisfy today's requirements. We'll not be able to tell you for sure unless you tell us your speakers and room size.

Invest major portions of the budget on speakers and a Sub, they have a decisive impact on the sound quality, especially when you are having budget constraints.

I'd have bought probably similar AVR but used @ around 12 - 15k and invested rest of the budget on Speakers, preferably used speaker systems - unlike other electronics speakers can be used for years without major issues. I'd have upgraded to a better AVR later when the budget permits.. I'd definitely Not have bought this AVR if I were you.

Still better would be to do a incremental upgrade, buy front speakers, Sub & AVR (used) now and add matching center, Surrounds later. See the classified section of the forum, if something suits your needs.

I had got my 473 around 4 odd yrs back for 25,000 net.
Week back the hdmi pcb blew up and i couldnt find the replacement part. The parts being imported from japan @ 11k.

Bottom line, dont buy, there is no way you will be able to find the spares.
