Hi all,
After some deliberation of which plasma to buy, finally bought the Samsung 43 H4900. Here are my initial observations:

So, finally bought the 43" H4900 for 42k from Reliance Digital, Vijayawada (Have a 5% cashback with AXIS bank - so effectively comes to 40k) Have received a sealed piece from Reliance Digital and the service Menu indicated the operation hours to be '0'.

Did some calibrations which looked good to the eye starting with the 'Movie' mode, nothing scientific.

We haven't upgraded yet to an HD Set-top box. It is still an old set-top box from 2005!

The SD content upscale is pretty good.
Plugged up a few HD movies on the pen-drive and it is eye-popping. Beautiful colors to say the least. Was watching 'Skyfall' which has a lot of lighting situations and this plasma displays good shadow detail with rich blacks.
Still tinkering for the optimum settings for watching a movie.

My complaints with the TV are:
1) The sound from the TV is very low and sounds very flat! Our previous CRT had a sub-woofer and we got used to the rich sound of it. I guess, need to invest in external speakers or soundbar.

2) Only 2 HDMI and 1 USB port! This is very bad. Was expecting atleast two USB ports! :(

Overall, the picture quality is great with the sound and the number of ports being the downside.

P.S: Please let me know which is a better soundbar or speaker to invest in under a budget of 15k.

congrats!!!

Congrats on your purchase... That was pretty quick to start the owners thread..... Good initiative...:clapping:

Now coming to your queries...

1) Today sound from Any flat planel TV is the same..No matter how expensive TV you buy, the sound has limitation....
2) I think 1 is more than enough for media playback... You TV doesn't have smart capability, so even if you have more than not sure if you will use them...

You can look @ Audio engine A2, powered speakers for around 15K....

Thank you for ur fast review on such a new Plasma.....I am also planning to buy this one.......in kolkata its 42.9k....cud u plz mention how much 3D glasses are there in the package.....? and hows the 3D experience....?

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
