Anybody here who has demo'ed 3D on a Samsung D6000 kindly share your opinion :)
One of my friends wants to buy a 3D TV around 50k and is interested in this particular model.

It seems that only in India D6000 has 3D, other countries this model seems to be a 2D only model. Seems kinda fishy :p

You wont get it for 50k AFAIK. If you are talking of 32" then it wont be of much use as you should go for atleast 40" to utilize PQ benefit of Full HD and see some acceptable 3D effect.

Yes 32". I told him it is not worth it but he still wants to go for it. :(

Not worth it.
As a matter of fact I dont know why they produce 32" 3D TVs.

In short, 3D will be bad experience. If that is the answer you are expecting.

32 inch for 3D???Man thats crazy,i think my parents just booked this but 46 inch,i'm getting it for 2d only and 100Hz as my main requirement. Nothing would beat a projector for 3d.

I know that and have tried to convince him regarding the same. I just wanna know how is this model with regards to 3D performance in general. Any size. 40" or 46" even.

Thanks madhavk8 :)

Did not really expect it to be that good really.

@Blasto

3D is not always necessarily better on a larger screen. The reason why 32" 3D TVs have poor 3D has to do with the panels and the technology built into it - both hardware and software specifications. If done right, 3D experience on even a 32" can match/beat the 3D experience on a 50" plasma.

Well there is already one that does and surprisingly its a laptop with a 16" screen. The Sony Vaio F 16" 3D laptop. Its "only" 16" but has much better 3D than 55" LED Tvs including LG Cinema 3D and even bests Panasonic flagship plasmas in terms of 3D performance with perfect layer separation, zero crosstalk/ghosting and a very realistic 3D image. I have not seen any 3D TV deliver more natural 3D than this laptop. :)

And trust me I should know cuz I own it and I totally love it. And part of the reason why it does well is it utilizes Toshiba's OCB LCD panel which has the fastest motion response of any LCD panel type and CRT like viewing angles. ;)

What is the distance you are sitting from the laptop?

For a 50",
SD => 14-15 feet
HD => 10-11 feet
3D => 7-8 feet is the best I have seen.

or a 32" TV, 3D will be good at like 3-4 feet and for 16", it will be 1-2 feet.

Sit like 5-6 feet from your laptop and checkout and post your observation..

While 1-2 feet for a laptop is a norm, 3-4 feet for a TV is not. Thats why they dont fit anywhere. Thats the same reason even FHD 32" TVs makes little sense from normal viewing distance.

Its your friend's decision after all that.

I finally convinced him to not get a 32" 3D TV and now he is getting the Sony 32EX520. :)

And I would like to disagree regarding the viewing distance theory. If depends on the individual product and not the viewing distance. If a product has poor 3D then no matter how close/far you view it from its not going to make bad 3D into good 3D and vice versa.

If you view a smaller screen from a greater distance the screen will appear smaller and it would be slightly less enjoyable.

There are even 17 inch 3D laptops and no matter if you view if from 0.5 feet the 3D is pathetic with loads of crosstalk. And to totally be immersed into the image size is not the only criterion. Absence of crosstalk/ghosting, perfect layer separation, 3D depth and how far the "pop out" can come out of the screen, are far more important as mentioned in this review below.

Finally... a 3D display worth using: Sony VAIO Series F review

I only mentioned about my laptop to just state that size is not always the only secret to 3D success. If you can get the more important stuff right then size does not matter ;) So hopefully in a year or two there will be a few good 32" 3D displays as well.

So yes Vaio F 3D is a very unique 3D beast that is IMO and also many others who even own a Panasonic VT30 plasma the best 3D screen yet with the most natural and realistic 3D image you will find.

But of course its kinda expected when it costs more than most 46" 3D LED TVs

BTW how far do you sit to watch 3d on 16" laptop?? i think 1 ft. no doubt you will get good experience on watching 3d from short distance on 16".:cool: it is equivalent to watching 50 inch from 5 ft.. so 16 inch, 32 inch, 40 inch, 50 inch watching experience will depend on your viewing distance...So your decision should be based on viewing distance, budget and the type of viewing experience you need:ohyeah:

Yes 1ft.

Anyways as I said this thread can be closed now. He decided to get the Sony 32EX520 :)

Its always been like this. Many members start thread for their queries and other members like us start arguing with each other and try to put in suggestions only to find out later that the person who started his thread is already sitting there watching his newly bought some other model tv:D:p
