Hello All,
A big thanks to all the members for helping me to decide which 32 inch LED tv to buy .Now its my turn to give it back to the forum .

After a lot of research ,reading and demoing finally chose samsung 32D 5000 LED tv .I will point the deciding factors ,the TVs in contention and finally my user expereince so far .

I needed to buy a 32 inch LCD/LED tv for my bedroom. The primary uses would be to watch TV via Tata Sky HD ,play movies from USB and occassional gaming by connecting to my Laptop .No 3D and internet was required .

The TV in contention were
1-Samsung UA32D4000N
2-Samsung UA32D5000
3-Panansonic TH-L32X30D
4-Sony -KDL-32EX420

I chose Samsung UA32D5000 for the following reasons
1-Ultra Slim Design and looks very elegant on the wall.
2-Full HD
3-Ability to play almost all movie formats via USB
4-Excellent after sales service

After using the TV for about a month these are my observations

1-Excellent Picture quality and depth of colors .
2-Excellent after sales service and installation
3-Plays almost all the movie formats via USB.Supports 1 TB external Hard Disk. You can play .srt subtitles and also time skip on movies. This feature is the most desired in any LED tv.No need to connect any DVD player.I mostly play HD movies via USB.
4-Seamlessly connect to laptop via HDMI cable and play games on the tv screen.
5-Descent sound quality and clarity .
6-User friendly remote controll.

Hope this review would be helpfull to fellow members

Regards,

Congrats man! So nice of you to make such a detailed post. I think D5000 beats EH5000 from same company in having more HDMI, USB ports and a slimmer design. I doubt why samsung is not producing D5000 anymore. Overall, D5000 is more value for money and is a definite winner for a full HD 32 inch TV.

I disagree with point 4. The after sales service is horrible for most manufacturers especially Samsung. They give you just 1 year warranty and after that if you have a defect you are on your own. They will charge you rs 1000 for diagnosis and comment that the panel is bad and it's cost is nearly as much as a new tv.

I have a Samsung series 6 led backlit LCD which I purchased for 100k. Unfortunately it has started having thin black horizontal lines after 2 years. Costly tv @50000 per year!

which led tv according to you has got best after sales service.

Unfortunately none in India. The only care that one should take is buy one which provides extended warranty, at least 5 years. Sony, Samsung, lg, sharp make decent led backlit lcds however they don't provide extended warranty as default as these technologies are not as robust as the CRT we used to use. These days only Panasonic plasmas have 3 year warranty and you can purchase extended warranty.

My take is that if you buy a television it should work for at least 10 years. However if you just google LCD or plasma panel problems (any company) you will know the depth of the problem. These companies want us to buy a new television ever three years whatever the price.

Amc is annual maintenance contract where they charge extra for extended warranty though one should check whether they include the panel.

I was not aware of the Sony 1+2 years. Good to hear that. Warranty period is also a specification these days. Keeps on changing.

The after sales service in the west is much better than India even when we purchase goods are a higher cost than in the western markets.

@lake. You should keep your fingers crossed Sony is as good as the product lasts. You will see the real face of Sony after sales when you have a problem. I have experienced them all. Lg being the best of the lot.

I have got total 10 sony products..out of them 2 trinitrons,1 hifi and a dvd player all are 8 yrs old..never need to call sony support except at the time of installing crt color tv and led..so u are right I don't know about their after sales service...but when dealer delivered led to my home around 4pm..within 30 minutes I got a call from local sony service center that a guy will come to install that day..I refused cause I was in office so told them to come before 12pm next day..and they came around 10:30am to install it...

You have been a lucky man. CRT are hardy prior to LCD tv we have used only 2 CRT ( crown and sansui ) in 3 decades which are still working. The problem is not in the installation and stuff. It is when you get a black line or band on your tv. That is the time one decides how good after sales support really is. If you google around you will read horror stories. This is not particularly for Sony but don't you think something costing more than a lac should work at least five years. I have used my television on a v guard stabiliser and belkin gold series surge protector and one fine day I get thin horizontal lines throughout the panel and the service centre guys tell me to replace the panel for 70000. This is a story for all brands.

Prolem In SONY MAKE 40" LED TV

Sony LCD mouthshut - Google Search

I never owned any things of samsung so not gonna comment on it...got lg ac and every year it acquires a new problem..service is good..but cost a lot..and u can find more horror stories in mouthshut in case of lg and samsung
I use APC ups which has automatic voltage regulation and surge protection...

It is not that sony fails less. Rather Samsung and Sony have a single panel manufacturing factory.
Your apc ups may have worked great mine went down on the 6 th day of use. Have used luminous since.

On the contrary my 5 star lg split AC is working fine with a occasional freon top up once in 2 years. ACs from any brand (even general and hitachi) need yearly maintenance ( basically cleaning).

I have liked the after sales service from whirlpool (washing machine) and prestige (induction cooker) in which they simply replaced the pcbs in a few days, no questions asked (even though the problems caused were to accidental damage, 440 v and moisture respectively).

Sony actually is in panel manufacturing with both samsung and sharp..but still they are offering 3 yrs warranty..not sure why samsung isn't giving 3 yrs warranty..

yeah and lg split ac every year the front display circuitry broke for no reason..either ir sensor not working/power led not working/remote problem..
