Friends,

My PS51E550 picture quality never stops amazing me. Whenever I watch the TV I cann't stop admiring the picture quality (more than the actual contents of the program :)). Apart from the glare, I don't see any major issue with the TV.

I took some photos of the TV with my Canon camera last night. Just wanted to share with you. The photos really don't do justice to the actual picture quality that this TV is capable of displaying.

awesome pics.Congrats.
BTW, what was the glare that you were mentioning?

Thanks.

Thanks friend. About glare: The TV screen is reflective. We've two big windows opposite the TV. It's very difficult to watch the TV during daytime unless we cover the windows with drapes.

Ah.I think the small effort will pay you rich dividends. What is the picture mode that you are watching? Also did you play any blu-rays?
Pls share your experience.

Thanks.

I'm using customized Standard mode. By customized I mean, I've changed almost all picture parameters. My main settings are: Cell light 15, Contrast 82, Brightness 45, Colour 50, Sharpness 20. Apart from these, I've disabled all picture processing effects like noise filter, black level etc. I'm using colour tone Warm 1.

I've played just one blu ray movie so far. Tron Legacy that we got free with the TV. The picture quality while playing blu ray disc is awesome.

I would be happy to know if you ever found any hints of motion blur while watching the blu-ray. Did you watch it with 96hz on or using 2:3 pulldown?

Thanks for the replies.

+1 to curious.

We got the E550 about 2 months ago for my parents at home. I had to wait 2 months for my first glance as I work in Chennai and my parents are in Hyderabad. Landed in hyd yesterday and since then I cannot take my eyes off the tv :D

Watching a game of football on ESPN HD is just heavenly experience :clapping:

I did face some blur issues when playing movies from external hard disk (500gb portable) connected through USB on the TV. Anyone else have this problem?

hello that is an awesome picture quality on that tv...actually even m planning to buy this tv..can u please post some SD channel pics..that will b really helpful....

Curious,

Can you post the pic of the Signal Quality & Strength of your AirTel HDR.

Josh!

Congrats ! PQ looks stunning in pics. Did you find any IR as I can see the 'Airtel and Z' Logos, are you taking any extra care for the logos.

Plz suggest.

Clicked on ur flickr photo streams, i did not find the pictures top notch as some posters here are claiming may be its just me!! , but the main problem im seeing are those vertical lines you are getting on the images, some images are covering 'em up but we can see clearly those distracting lines?

Sorry friends for the delay in reply have not been following up this forum that frequently. Josh!, I'll post the signal quality and strength details soon.

Thanks friend. I had once found afaint image airtel logo retained. I regularly run IR prevention bars for 5-10 min.s a week to make sure that there is no image retention. There should not be any image retention if you take good care (having contrast at moderate level, viewing contents in zoom/full screen mode etc) of the panel in initial 100 odd hours and run IR prevention bars regularly.

As I mentioned, the photos don't do justice to the actual picture quality of the TV. Those vertical lines are not seen on actual TV content. I'm not sure about how to capture the TV picture "as is" in a photo. It would have been really nice if the TV had a feature which would help us do that (like we have on iPhone home+lock button)

good news to hear that :yahoo: , what kind of stuff are you using for the break in period ( for banding and IR). It would be gr8 if you can share it or if you have any link to dld it.

The color reproduction seems completely messed up.
May be, it's my camera.

Anyways, myself, my family and whoever visited us so far liked the picture quality this TV is capable of producing. The first reaction of everyone has been "wow!". As they say, to each his own. :)

BTW, my set has not been professionally caliberated. I just set the parameters to my liking. This could also be a possible reason for some experts finding the colour reproduction messed up. As I said, atleast my family and friends like it. May be we got used to it. :)

Nothing special as such. Just kept contrast to moderate (70) level, watched SD channels in zoom mode and was careful not to leave any static image on screen for extended period of time during the break-in period. I also ran built in burn-in protection bars for few min.s a week.

You can find break in images on net. However, I did not use any of those.
