Samsung S95B OLED First Look | Brilliant Potential

I preordered this TV directly from Samsung and received it last week. This is my first OLED. Before this I was using a Panasonic ZT60 plasma for almost 6 years. Reading about OLED TV's, one of the biggest complaints seems to be the panel lottery with respect to uniformity and overall brightness etc. This panel is amazingly clean. No defects. The TV overall is almost as thin as an LG C1. It can be setup to be pretty bright as well. Brightness difference is clearly visible when it comes to HDR - sometimes too much of brightness for HDR.

But the motion processing and upscaling doesn't look that great. Also native apps are pretty bad at this time - one will definitely need a streaming box.

I also ordered an LG C1 just before this one as the price was pretty good, but once I received this one I cancelled the LG C1.

It looks like QD OLED will replace WRGB OLED, especially at the high end. Looking at how Samsung priced this TV, it might even be cheaper than WRGB OLED pretty soon - depends on how much they can scale the manufacturing.

For this year itself models like LG C2/G2 etc will have a tough time competing with S95B.
