I am confused between buying samsung 32eh5000 and sony 32ex520.

It seems sony is denying to repair the panel of the tv even in case of during the warranty period of 1+2 years. The sony company states that it is a physical damage. and rendering the tv to be useless.

while samsung has only 1 year warranty, samsung's replaces the tv during the 1 year warrranty period or if spares are out of stock gives the cost of the tv purchased by cheque . Whereas after the 1 year warrranty period samsung tv has high failure rate and it turns out to be useless

So, I want to know which tv to buy

Well if there are physical marks of damage then no company will honor the warranty.

But if there is a display problem by defect ,or it started to malfunction by itself even if its due to high voltage ,the company should or will honor the warranty.

Tvs from all manufactures fail not just samsung, especially in india where we have horrible voltage, poor handling during transportation and what not.

Now both tvs are good the EH5000 plays more formats via USB and more PC resolution are supported .but with samsung it can come with different panels.
With the EX520 it comes with a SPVA panel but lacks the same level of media playing capabilty .

this might help.......... Best 32" LCD TV: Our Top Recommended 32 Inch LCD HDTVs for 2012

I have had and seen bad experiences for Samsung TVs. Generally TVs face no problems during the warranty period of one year, but all goof ups start happening later...this might happen with any brand but Samsung seem to have more as informed to me by the Samsung repair engineer himself.!

Did a lot of research on the net and auditioning before I went in for the Sony EX. Found the colors on Sony Bravia sets to be more realistic and rich. Plus you can buy the extended warranty as well. So my suggestion would be Sony.

Cheers, all the best.

I personally like the picture quality of sony. Its way better when compared to samsung. I find the picture quality in samsung artificial. Sony is more realistic and pleasing to the eyes. My two cents!!

will go off reservation here i found the pic quality of sammy eh5000 somewhat superior to the ex520 (ex520 is our drawing room display the sammy is for personal use)
no idea about failure rates though
only ever owned two samsung monitors till now never any issues 2 years running

I own a samsung LED TV, hasn't been a year yet, so can't comment on the longevity aspect (Keeping fingers crossed). Have had a 22" LCD monitor and has been working for close to 2 years, no issues.

In terms of media playback support though, haven't yet seen a TV that matches samsung. I think sony has caught up somewhat this year by supporting MKV and AVC-HD and the USB input supports NTFS. But I hear there are some restrictions on x264 encoding profile level (not sure about the 2012 model).

And most retailers provide extended warranty for samsung also, not just for sony. I have the samsung 1 year warranty plus a 2 year dealer warranty for my TV.

Don't spend on a blu ray player plus a Sony tv. That will be like twice the amount of a tv which plays all formats.

Read some actual reviews and user reviews which is backed up by measurements, see the tv yourself by playing both SD and HD and then decide.

Don't fall for the Sony displays natural colors and picture while others don't nonsense.

No one is asking to buy a bluray player..most users play files downloaded from web..for that cheap wdtv to highend xtreamer/popcorn hour are available which can playback every possible format known to mankind.
BTW bluray players don't cost much now a days.

Yup, go with what you find best. When I was looking for a 40" LED (~70k budget), i settled for a Samsung 7 series. That was the best one to my eyes.

But about a month ago when I tried to get a 32" for my in-laws (<30k budget), we got a Sony. It was better than Samsung models in its class.

Now, I'm not concluding that the higher end Samsung's have an edge. Just that each particular model is different. The best TV for you is dependent on your budget and what appeals to your eyes the most.
