I have a dish TV connection and opted for two STB's.

I had run two runs of coaxial cable from terrace/dish to the ground floor. I will be using one cable for a dedicated TV using one STB but I need to use the second STB in two other rooms not simultaneously but use the second STB at the two TV's at different time by shifting the STB to the respective TV.

Now my problem is that I have one cable run and I need to connect the two coaxial cable to one cable running from the dish.

I understand that I cannot use the splitter that is commonly available for cable TV/antenna to split the cable signal since the satellite TV cable sends a 14V/18V DC signal to the LNB of the antenna dish and also 22KHZ(I am not sure) signal to communicate with the satellite.

I need help from members what type of splitter that I should use in this case and where is it available online?

No I did not try the regular t-splitter which is used for normal cable/antenna.

I though it would not work.

But I am thinking of using a RG 6 F male connectors and femal coupler and connect the respective TV/room's cable to the coupler according to the need since as I told I will not be using simultaneously at two places as I have only one STB.

In the above arrangement I need to everytime plug in the respective cable

Yes, you get splitter for LNBC (Cost approx 200-300Rs) and also you can buy Bullet Amplifier (cost Rs 800-1000) which is "On The wire" RF Amplifier.
Search for "LNB Splitter" which is always power pass module. So no worry about power supply and frequency range. This is different than satellite Cable TV splitter.
Bullet Amplifier is inline amplifier but limited bandwidth. Look for this too which covers signal loss from splitter. Generally we connect it after long run of wire and before splitter.

Thanks a lot for the info. I had reviewed the links.

Where can I buy this online on Indian websites?

I reside in bnglr.

No, this is direct connection. LNB splitter has some diodes inside which allow power in on direction only. This stops voltage transfer from one STB to another.

Thanks understood. If I am going to use the STB at one location eachtime and not together on both the cables simultaneously then I should not have any problem I think so.

I read somewhere that if we are using two stb's from the same cable/LNB then the bandwidth will be reduced, so we need to have one LNB connection for each STB. Is it true?

I located another link

TechVission Coaxial 4 Way Splitter / All Port Power Pass

Using 2 STB from same cable/LNB adds signal loss and noise. no effect on bandwidth.

From your link:
5-2150 MHz
4-Way Splitter
All Port Power Pass
1 in and 4 out

Looks fine and covers down converted band range of 700-1950MHz.

So can I goahead and buy it?

I will connect all the outgoing cables to different rooms but will use one STB only at anytime

Thank you ordered the same. Wil receive in a week. I will install and post the outcome on this thread.

I too have same problem. I have TV I hall and a projector upstair . I have two cables from lnb at each location. I use to shift stb each laoction as required and shift respective cable at terrace each time. Will the above splitter save me going every time at terrace? Please share from where you are getting this.

Thanks
Uttam

The one which I am ordering is this:

Finally after much research and help from fellow member omishra- received the 4 way splitter as mentioned earlier.

I had subscribed to D2H for additional connection and they delivered set top box and changed the LNB at the antenna end to accomodate two cables.

It is working with no deterioration of signal and am able to operate the same STB in different rooms with prewired cable.

I am also using a D2H with a regular T splitter supplied by D2H guy who installed the dish. One cable run to my HT where I use it with the PJ and other one go to a TV. I only have one STB and shift locations regularly. I have not faced any issue with that till now

As per earlier corresposndence in this thread we can split the antenna signal with a regular T Splitter (like in your case!) but the one used in this case has a diode to prevent the voltage sent from the STB to the other connections.

If we are using the STB one place at a time a common T splitter can be used.
