Hello All,

Finally the DX1 and the Denon X1000 are set up at my place. Haven't been able to test it our totally as the BD player is in transit.

I have a few queries:

1.a. I cant get the Audio Out from the LED to the AVR+Speaker set up through the HDMI I am using to connect the LED & AVR. What needs to be done?

b. Do I need to use a separate Optical cable to make this work?

2. a. My stop gap set top box from local cable guy has only AV Outputs (No HDMI). I tried connecting this to the AVR inputs, but it seems the X1000 cant take this input and then use the HDMI (AVR<-->LED) to output the video on the LED. Can this be confirmed?

b. I tried to connect only the audio (Red&White of cable-1) to the AVR audio input & the Yellow video plug of cable-2 directly to the LED. I used 2 separate RCA cables for this, is that why it didn't work?

Help needed..

If your LED does not have ARC (Audio return channel) then you need the Opt connection from tv to avr. Honestly, why would you need return audio from the tv if you connect the cable box to the tv via avr?
I have a similar set up for my denon x3000 (analogue cable inputs to avr and hdmi out to tv) and the cable gets upscaled to tv via hdmi. Picture is good (though there is too much of colour and i had to tone down my tv color adjustments)

Thanks for the reply RealactiveX,

My cable box is connected to the AVR via Composite cable and the AVR to LED via HDMI. But it seems the AVR, in this case Denon X1000 is not capable to translating the signal composite to HDMI. DO i need to change any settings in the AVR for this?

If you can help me with the settings for this this, then it would be great. Hopefully its not a feature that only higher end Denon AVRs have and the X1000 doesnt.

Hello friends,

I would seriously recommend you to go in for HD DTH connection from tatasky or any other service provider. Maybe the picture quality of the cable might be closer to DTH , sadly the sound quality is light years behind when compaired to an HD channel.
Connect the digital coaxial / optical out to corresponding inputs of AVR , in addition to HDMI & assign the digital input as video2 or any other & watch the Full HD channels which are encoded in dolby 5.1 ( eg.Star Movies HD) & then see the vast difference in audio quality.

On a different note, would like to ask you what is the difference b/w denon 1713 & X1000
which one is better for driving sats. What about their cost? Also is it good for sub sat combo like BA soundware xs 5.1 or the sonodyne genie 1. Which of these sat system is better suited with denon. Thanks in advance.

Most TV's currently have HDMI1 with audio return. Double check on the HDMI port you are using. I have also connected the Set Top box (HD) to the TV and used the HDMI for return.

have u set ur tv speakers to audio system instead of tv inbuilt speakers.

im also using denon connecting via rca cables only.make sure u connect rca in sat/cbl in denon avr.

these two will do.ARC is only needed when u want any internet video, youtube videos sound from tv to avr. check those two . post ur backside connection of avr pic with rca cables connected then we may hlp u further

1a. Your TV should have ARC for hdmi audio to work. The port will be marked ARC on your TV.

1b. If no ARC then optical cable is required.

2a. You need an AVR with analog upscaling/upconversion for hdmi to show video.

2b. You will need to switch the avr input to the analog input where you connected the dth box audio.

Better you upgrade your STB which having HDMI for video & Optical for Audio.
And more over with analog audio (L/R) input to the Deon, there is no use of surrond sound, you can hear only STEREO.

Hi Baiju,

I used a HDMI cable to connect the BD palyer to the AVR and used the CBL/SAT in my Denon X1000 to connect to the LED.
Now I can watch a BD with audio through the HT system. and the video on LED.

But I am still unable to connect the RCA AV outputs of the set top box and get the audio via the HT.

I guess unless I use the optical from the LED to AVR, i wont be able to route my video from Set top box to LED and simultaneously have the audio thru the HT.

It clearly indicated in usermanual for X1000.The way to connect settopbox to avr.

Hope this helps ur issue.
