setting up a home theatre

Hello friends.....
1st time on the forum
Many experts I can see here wd fair amount f experience
Plz guide me

I want to set up a home theatre in my home... confused with so many brands in market...
plz do help me...

Room size. 300 sq feet
Height 9 feet
Requirement 80% movies. 20% music
I don't want very harsh loud speakers
Thinking of setting up 7.2.2

Till now I've thought of buying
Marantz 6011 amplifier

Confused between

# Wharfedale diamond 240 tower and 240 centre speaker, DFS surround speaker, D10 subwoofer
OR
#Polk RTI A7 tower speaker, CSI A6 centre speaker, RC 60i surround speaker and DSW 550 pro subwoofer
OR
# should I go for smthing else...

How are the reviews of above mentioned speaker....

I'm planning to hav 2 subwoofers or should I settle for 1 only.
I love more bass. and action movies..

My budget is not more than 5 lacs including everything(projector/screen/installation)

1. What are the floor dimensions - L x B
2. Is this a dedicated theatre room or shared for other purposes, such as living room or bed room.

Within the budget of 5 lakhs, don't think about any other brand than Anthem MRX 720 av receiver and Paradigm Monitor 11/9 floor standing speakers and Paradigm matching center and surround speakers. For Subwoofer go for SVS Subwoofer. Above mentioned combination is ultimate for movies as well as music. You can audition these AVR and speakers at " The DEN" , Worli, Mumbai.

Since your room is big which will mainly be used for movies, go for polk than wharfedale. Polk is mostly considered good for movies and wharfedale for music, though the margin is very minute.
Better go for dual subs, preferably strong brands like SVS.
Audition denon and pioneer as well before you zero in on Marantz, as its again is considered a music amp, than a movie amp. Try to do as much audition as possible, before you take a call. The final rule is, if it suits your ear - go for it.

Fairly large room.. Either 7.2.2 (or) 5.2.4 likely possible..

- 80% movies, skip the floorstanders.. Efficient satellite speakers + sub will do..
- It would be best to have 7 identical speakers to have uniform sound across the room.. Over head speakers can be different..
