Past one week I am following the below method to setup volume levels in my setup. As I don't use a remote control, this works better as I don't have to readjust for the rest of my day. You will require just an mobile app based SPL meter with an Average reading for this method.
- first measure the ambient noise in your room with normal situation like ceiling fans etc ( I don't believe in listening music suffering from heat). For instance if the ambient room noise is say 70dB. Note this.
- turn on your favourite music and adjust volume at the same mobile position for around 73dB. For most people this level should be ok.
- I never had the need to go above 76dB I.e +6dB louder than ambient noise.

This method works quite well for me.

For me, listening early in the morning is more enjoyable. And I enjoy it at very low volume. I think there is an SNR for brain too that deteriorates during the day as you get involved with day-to-day activities.
