Shipping LP's from USA

Hello, was looking for advice to ship over a 100 LP's from USA. They could be shipped together or in batches.

Any help or suggestions?

Make batches of 10-15 albums. Wrap each batch in shrink-wrap (similar to one used on food items). Wrap this further in double layers of thick packing foam and then packing tape all around.

Remember that the packages will be thrown around and kicked specially when they reach India so keep that in mind.

I have no idea about customs who also are notorious (as per various forums) for opening packings, inspecting things by hand and then repackaging things back again in a loose packet.

Thx... and what method of shipping should I use?
USPS flat rate box? or extra baggage on Air India?

Bubble wrap and then place in a card board box with thermocol shipping. use standard surface shipping if on a budget, if not on a budget, use priority shipping with insurance. Limit pack to 30 LPs. Customs charging you is highly subjective and is also based on luck. Also multiple instances of shipping to the same address can attract attention. USPS is a good option, others are more expensive. If travelling to India, you can hand carry a pack on 30 Lps easily. I've done this several times. However, wrap the LPs in thick paper, that's it (for hand carrying). Remember, most airlines usually allow only 1 cabin bag so its got to be your LPs and your laptop bag at the most. My 2 cents.

The LP's are all seconds from a garage sale.

If the customs are going to rip me.... then its not worth the effort! :sad:

Guess I will try my luck.....with a package at a time as suggested! :licklips:

I must also mention that I have received packages from ebay sellers for upto 30 LPs and have not been charged duty even once. However these secenarios can change even from location to location.
