Hi All,

I was just browsing when i saw that indiatimes is offering additional 10% festival discounts on almost all TVs, be is LCD/LED/Plasma.
Is there any catch on it? It clearly says offering manufacturer warranty and home delivery.
Is it worth buying from the website?

Please suggest.

Thanks,

Not sure about now, but 5-6 years ago I had bought a phone from them. Theoretically the warranty would be there, but practically you may be able to avail it or not is not guaranteed. A few gotchas that you should keep in mind before making an electronics purchase from them.

Who is the seller (Indiatimes or 3rd party)? If 3rd party forget about warranty. Indiatimes will assume no responsibility after the sales. 3rd party may or may not actually pass you the warranty. Check beforehand.

Check for the availability of the service centers of the brand you are buying. In case you land up with something faulty, their after sales support is (at least it was 5-6 years ago) pathetic.

All in all, if you can find similar deals from other places, go for them. I don't recommend Indiatimes for electronics shopping.

I searched about this site and found that its bad site to buy this stuff. Same like Timtara so i am off from these kinda sites...
Search before buying from this site yourself.

I have not shopped at indiatimes. A friend tried buying the 51e550 as they were giving 5K discount and had a hard time as it came cracked or some such problem. Also most of the non serious etailers do not own anything - they just ask some dealer to send it to you. Hence it seems like if one wants to etail - stick to the ones whose full time business is retailing

Indiatimes , Timtara - Not Recommended (timtara and tradus also for that dont but its not good at all..)
Flipkart , Infibeam - Recommended ( I have shopped many things ranging from mobiles , books , batteries etc and was never disappointed)

dear FM
Please stay away from indiatimes shopping. i had ordered a mobile phone paid by credit card. did not receive the phone in 10 days as promised/written by them. after 13 days, had to cancel the order. yet to receive the credit back to my card till today which is 18th day of my order.

that site sucks! my cash of 2.5k was never debited back even after canceling the order!and now the issue is 1 1/2 year old!wtf!

But my experience with Indiatimes is not that bad.. I had purchased few electronic items from them.. starting with a chinese camcorder mobile 6/7 years back, the device had an issue with the display and they helped me getting a replacement after 6 months of use..
Next a Nikon digi cam (with dealer warranty).. and latest a BB9360, 5-6 months back (with BB, India offcial warranty) , yes it took almost 3 weeks to deliver.. I think, nowadays they stopped being third party sellers platform like e-bay.. so most of the electronic items comes under official manufacturer warranty item.. anyway, as of now their offer is the best considering a discount upto 5K.. also few credit cards can get a free emi option (I have a stanchart card, which is eligible for 6mths int free emi)..

I have used buytheprice as well for BB8520, though with BB warranty, but they issued a invoice without the IMEI no, but they delivered quite quickly (3/4 days)...

I have used other sites for apparel and misc items and found to be quite good, no issues, incl they handled returns without much of an issue .. but still return is always carried out better in a neighbourhood stores.

Avamx.. as of now the price of 46HX750 is the lowest in Indiatimes, no one is offering a better deal.. with emi u can save another 2/3% .. and also they accepts credit card ..

The site clearly says that comes with manufacturur warranty not dealers. Then why are we concerned if it has 3rd party seller. They are anyways not obliged for the warranty as we need to contact manufacturing company for the same. And the price seems to be lowest in comparision to any store or website.

The main issue with indiatimes is hoarding of money and makes interest from it. What they do is. Suppose you buy a product worth 10k . Then even though available in stock they wont be delivering you on time. They think that if the company wont deliver on time the the customer will cancel the order. So suppose you cancel you order after 15 days of the order placed so around 30 days from the order placed you will get the refund and they would get free ka 1 month ka interest..

That is a cheap trick. Is cash on delivery option available ?

No cod offer. The website is just an intermediary between sellers and buyers, like ebay. Unlike flipkart, they don't have a warehouse and hold stock. And unlike ebay, they don't have the safety features.

Guys who ever purchasing using credit card,if the merchant delivers defective product, delivered partially then i would suggest you to call the Card issuing bank and request a charge back. As far as i know there is 90 days transaction life cycle for credit card so you can file a charge back within 90 days of purchase and if your claim is true and fair the card issuing bank will credit the deducted amount back to you and they will also screw the merchant..
So as a card holder you are at a safer side.
If your your claim is true, bank will fine the merchant so that merchant will not repeat his mistake once again.
