hello fellow bloggers!
i am new to this site so please forgive me if i make any mistakes!:)

Our 10 year old Akai 29inch crt tv is going strong but with slight problems like notworking audio video ports, tvav .... I just wanted to ask the members who have upgraded from a crt to either a lcd or a plasma that if watchig SD channels on their tv's is the same as watching on a crt tv???

I have gone through some threads and seen that plasma/lcd/led are not recomended at all for normal SD channels!
i know that there are HD channels being offered by tata sky and others, but we mostly watch news and some english and hindi channels that are not currently available on their hd channel pack.
so i am in two minds whether to upgrade now or wait till a good number of channels are brodcasted in HD.we watch mov

Also i want to add that we mostly watch the tv from about 8 to 16 feet,so wondering if watching SD channels on a plasma/lcd/led at this distance will neggate the noise and pixelation seen on these tvs ??

thanks in advance!!:)

Since you are now watching a 29 inch CRT, you may go for a 40 inch LCD or 42 inch LCD/plasma which is HD ready / not full HD.

Standard channels are good on HD ready sets. If you are already using an STB upgrade it to HD STB. The HDMI connection to the TV give much better pic even at SD.

Try as many models in shops (even full HD ones ) and try to watch the channels you are interested. There are some SD channels which has good PQ even on full HD. If your favourite channels are among them, go for full HD.

ok thanks! but i have a doubt. is there any difference between hd and full hd watching from a 42 incher at a distance of 8 feet or 14 feet?

Please spend as much time on the forum and other posts before posting questions. Most basic questions like these are answered many times.
