Signal Is More Than Encrypted Messaging; It’s Out to Prove Surveillance Capitalism Wrong

...and there is only 1 friend I know on it :D so I installed Signal just for that 1 person and Its still 1 after 4 months

I had switched to singal the day they said they will link the phone no to facbok.
The change just cleansed a lot of things and it was a good realization.

The significance of the phrase “ Surveillance capitalism” can not be under estimated.
As we are lost in the “free” services like Watsapp, FB etc take a moment to ponder on how and why this is free.

Users are the commodity. User data (despite claims of anonymising) is used and sold for relentless marketing of products and to influence opinion on a massive scale (eg: elections)

Politicians love such companies for obvious reasons. (Recent Elton Must (X) costing up to Trump)

Protecting our data privacy from techno oligarchs seems to be a critical public imperative as we move into a uncertain technological future.

Signal is a refreshing approach that runs counter to the widely accepted “everyone is greedy and selfish” doctrine.

I have no doubt governments will ban or interfere with Signal once significant number of users start using this “not for profit “ App. Of course it will be done using national security and public good as an excuse
