Is there any small phone available today with good voice clarity/ reception and long battery life ? Add: PC connectivity

I already have an iPhone and extra battery backup but still need to charge it too often. Looking to relegate this for data only ( have very heavy usage) and keep another small dumb phone as main for talking.

Reminds me of the story where someone wanted a watch which only told the time and nothing else and finally was only able to find one when he bought a Kellogg's cereal and got one free withq that :)

I had bought a Nokia 1280 for my Dad late last year as he wanted a big keypad and long battery life :). And he charges once in 2 weeks with occasional talk time. Looks good simple and does exactly what you are dreaming off (just talk and nothing else :clapping:)

Well I just realized 1 smart feature I would need.. Pc connectivity to backup phone numbers !

Then this phone does not have this feature. When you say PC backup then it does not become simple but complex phone with lots of other features which you would not like to use  as the PC connectivity I think comes in a smart phone and not in a basic phone.

Buy any android phone with a not so big screen and a big battery, turn off all data and set the network to 2G. It'll last you 3-4 days easily.

I was using Nokia X1-01 (1800/-) as a standby phone, it has long battery 1350mAh and no need to charge in 7-10 days but it doesn't have PC connectivity. Supports Memory Card upto 8GB, may be 16. includes Music player

Now using Micromax X350 (2100/-), big screen, 1500mAh battery, no need to charge 8-12 days. Supports PC connectivity and has backup option, camera, bluetooth, multimedia player, etc.

+ 1 to that. I have 1280 as backup phone and it provides excellent voice clarity / coverage than my android smart phone. Battery lasts for many days and offers 3.5mm audio jack, dust-free keypad, led torch and talking clock as an out of the world features:yahoo:. You can easily transfer contacts from SIM memory if pc connectivity is what you are targeting.

PC connectivity is required so i can syn my outlook contacts - that is very important
the other thing is long battery life
i would like a regular candy bar design which is slim and easy to carry in my top pocket

some websites say you can syn it
other say you cant
in fact it has no usb so i woonder how you can syn your pohone book with another phone

the manual says to do it with bluetooth
i dont have a clue how that is possible
and i doubt you can syn phonebooks using bluetooth from a blackberry to a nokia

My bet would be Nokia 301.

Nokia 301 - Specifications - Nokia - India

However there seems to be some concern regarding the battery.

You can go with Nokia 206 also. Nokia says it has "local & Remote SyncML synchronisation". This is the feature you are looking for.

Install nokia ovi/pc suite in your laptop, pair your phone using Bluetooth, and you are ready to go.

As already you have the iphones/androids I can suggest you look for any Nokia phone (by the way 1280 does not have bluetooth) with basic features along with bluetooth. Use this feature to transfer the contacts and disable it once transferred for long lasting battery.

nokia 206 has bluetooth

but are you sure you can sync a blackberry contacts with a nokia using bluetooth

as far as i know you can dothis only 1 contact at a time
and that too it takes really long

anyway i want something that can sync with outlook or somethingwhich i can backup

I am not sure about blackberry but yes in bluetooth it normally transfers each contact but you can select all and then send it over bluetooth this should be supported. But you also need to check the compatibility of how the sync over the bluetooth happens between different OS's.

it works only between two s40's i think

Hey thanks for all this. form what I have heard Nokia still has the best Voice quality and reception
Magma, thanks for your tips..this looks perfect

The 206 apparently does not sync with the pc so bettter to wait for this.

I tried maximising my iphone by not using 3q etc etc...still 2% by EOD. with my battery case i do get another 8-10 hours but risk if i dont chanrge is i'll get a dead battery

207 also doesnt syn with PC
crap

it just says local SYNc

i wonder waht that is

otherwise ill have to buy a sync provider

I have a 2 year old iphone 4 and the battery is superb. I charge it once in week and I use it only for making/receiving calls and very occasional wifi remote for xbmc/foobar . I do not have 3g/2g enabled and all the syncs are also disabled with only bluetooth enabled only during my car driving.
You can also try Nokia Asha not sure whether this fits your reqs.
