Single Full Range Driver Speaker audition request Chennai Tirunelveli

I'm not sure where exactly I should post this request. Hence posting under this section.

After auditioning multiple speakers and research, I planned to custom make a floorstander pair from an architect I follow for the past 3 years.

He suggested me multiple choices of full range drivers, single driver floorstander in a teak enclosure.

I've decided to place the order, however before placing the order I would like to live audition a single full range driver made speakers once to get an idea of how they might sound like.

The architect is from Ahmedabad, so I've no chance in auditioning his works in person. Hence this request.

Need to know where can I audition single driver full range speakers in Chennai - dealers, FMs who own a pair etc., names required. I will reach out to them in person for audition request.

We have not finalized the enclosure type yet, but I have told him that I am interested in getting floorstanders than bookshelves. For drivers, he suggested markaudio Full range options from 4 inch Gold driver to 6.5 inch Gold drivers.

The build material most likely be either MDF or teak wood. He also proposed that he can build the fronts with Walnut, if I request.

All I primarily need to know is how the sound signature will be - I am more into warm signature and the bass should not overpower the vocal, instrumentals, meanwhile it should be tight not to sound tinny.

I can't stand for more than 15 minutes with a bright signature sound, and will get fatigue. I also want to know, how well a single driver FR speakers will handle the different musical genres.

Hence want to audition similar style speakers to make the final call.

To get balanced sound out of full rangers is a bit tricky and needs careful pairing. I would recommend open baffle designs supported by a subwoofer or a dedicated actively driven woofer. Normally single ended Class A amps or tube amps match well to full rangers.

You may need to incorporate some zobel network in case of some peaks, especially if the full range utilizes a whizzer cone.

Get in tough with FM @yogibear (open baffle) or with @srinisundar who specialises with Altec drivers and tube gear.
