Smoking Hot Revolvers from Blue Note!

They're being remastered to digital first, before issue on vinyl. No doubt the original master tapes might be in poor shape, but there surely must be first or second generation copies that could have been used for an all-analogue chain. Guess one might have to continue searching for originals (harder to find these days, but not impossible - I have a few), or the earlier Liberty, King, OJC or Classic re-issues.

The Analogue Productions Blue Note reissues also get a lot of praise and are still available : Analogue Productions

I don't have any but have a few AP reissues of some folk and jazz. Very well pressed, all analog 2 LP 45 rpm sets but pricey at about $50 a pop. But hey, that's why they call us crazy, right? :)

Well, I checked my copy of Herbie Hancock's Maiden Voyege that is a 1985 reissue. That one is a DMM with the footnote "original historical master tape". If that DMM master made from the original tapes is still around then they can press more copies. But that might be lost or destroyed. This one is pressed in Calcutta plant.

Regards,

At least one of these artists is available right now with Rhythm House (here). I reported about Eric Dolphy Out to Lunch here (post # 2099), though they have run out of stock now. I am still not sure if it is a re-issue or a remaster, but i got it reeeeaaaal cheap (695 INR from Rhythm House). I also got the Cannonball Adderly Somethin' Else album for even cheaper (595 INR). Let me think if I have listened to it yet, though :indifferent14:

Coltrane's A Love Supreme I had bought (for reasonable money) from flipkart. My copy of Herbie Hancock's Maiden Voyage is old and tattered. Would love a new one. And a copy of The Joni Letters, too.

I wish they had more female vocals in their back catalog (I can see only Cassandra Wilson).

I was searching for this topic all over since one of my all time favorites is releasing today as part of this series (Song for My Father). And it bought me to this forum :)

Has anyone had any experience with any of the titles released so far?

I read G401Fan's comments above and that was what I was afraid of. I have had some unfortunate experience with CD transfer to Vinyl that is simply depressing and don't want to go thru that again :(

Chime in if you have some inputs to share on any titles from this series....
