sony 490 bitstreaming urgent

hello friends,
first zeroed on panasonic 220 blu ray player and ordered it from infibeam.my badluck that they dont have the product in stock.i cancelled the order.
alas that such a good product is nowhere(i also checked my city showrooms)....
anyway now i want to buy sony 490

any first hand experience about the hd audio bit streaming capacity of this model while pairing with an avr......will be highly appreciated..

according to sony website 480 and 380 can bitstream DD and DTS formats. No info about 490 so i guess it doesnt support. someone please confirm this.

Very easy..download the S490 support doc from sony india...I can clearly see there is option for bitstream option for HD audio formats...it supports bitstream as most bluray players.

thanks lake..yes i saw the user manual,where it is written.yes.but any first hand experience will be great.as in the specs of 490,its not mentioned.....whereas in the specs of 380 it is very clearly mentiond.....so is my concern

Go to page 26 last and page 27 first...both settings i.e. BD audio mux settings and DTS/Dolby Digital are needed to enable bitstream.

Bitstream output is available in almost every bdp. Bitstream means pure raw sound output based on the HD track selected. The avr does the job of decoding for various formats.

However you must also set the output option of dd as dd and dts as dts.

The review for S490 has been really good. Ordered it online at ezoneonline for 8991. Guys do lemme know whether it was a good decision..

My 8year Old Sony DVD compo system is not playing DVD anymore, and the repair expense is more than 5k as per Sony Autorized service centre.. I am yet to have a 3D TV, but as I am buying a new product, trying to make it future proof, considering that I am actively considering to upgrade to a big 3D TV.. This player will play most of the media, incl downloaded staff.. The highly recommended one BDT220 is not available anywhere, and I think Sony is good enough for my use, and the price is really good I think.. BTW, anyone had faced any issue with playing portable HDD?

i got sony 490 from indiatimes shopping at exact 8528/-.......
ezoneonline is simply hopeless and unproffessional....they could not ship it even after 30 days....ultimately the order is cancelled..processing 150 rs and phone follow up 200 rs is lost..sad part
and i orderd it from indiatimes....
within 5 days i got it,.

suggesting everyone outside maharashtra not to buy anything from ezoneonline.......

well it can bitstream:yahoo:.but the thing is its not cleqary mentioned in specs and also in remote...
setting says either auto or pcm....via hdmi
the auto is actually bitstream..it will bitstream it into the avr...
video quality..nothing to say:licklips:

I got it from ezoneonline within 3 days.. but the interesting part was that 4 days after delivery they called up to say that the product is being shipped.. I was surprised.. pathetic logistics logistics control..

Anyway, happy that they gave me two 3D titles free (Tintin & MIB3), but they firgot to pack the the 3D spec.. after I complained to their customercare and sent a photogarph of the packing box, which clearly mentions the 3D spec, they sent it separately, free of cost.. so no issue (specially I never thought these items are also part of the blu ray player package)..

The player is excellent, it plays and upscales even the regular DVD's nicely.. I have a original Alvin & The Chipmunks trilogy DVD-set (which is being played almost daily as my kids like them most), & the picture quality on TV is almost like the Blu-ray discs.. highly recommended at this price point, among the ones locally available now..
