Hello,

Just wanted to know if anyone faced the same problem as I did when I tried to connect my WD external HD (1TB) via USB to the NX650. It did not detect the external drive. When I connected my pen drive (32GB) it detected it but could not place most of the movies stored on it.

Qt. Is there a problem with my TV or it happens to all the NX650. Also is there a particular format that the Sony plays cause I connected the same WD & pen drive to my Samsung ES5000 and it detected it and played all that was stored on it.

Check the TV specs and see if it supports NTFS partition. A common complaint about Sony TVs is that they don't support NTFS formatted disks.

Thank you baijuxavior for you quick reply. So its a common problem with Sony. Is there a way around it???

Dear prosenjit, I did not get any thread link????

Most newer Sony's accept FAT, FAT32 (maybe) and exFAT filesystems but not NTFS. exFAT gets around the 2GB partition size limit. If you can, do try formatting your external HDD/pendrive as exFAT.

Regarding playing non supported formats see the most excellent thread by "lake" for how to convert to a supported format http://www.hifivision.com/television/26438-how-play-mkv-file-sony-bravia-led-tv-guide.html

Alternately you can just use a DLNA server such as Sony UK's Homestream or Serviio or Plex to stream most any format directly to your TV if it supports DLNA.
