Hello guys, shortlisted the above two for purchase in the near future...

AFAIK the only major difference between these two is the former one features EDGE LED and the later one is CCFL backlight...

Apart from the above , i dont understand these things. Please explain guys... These specs are taken from sony singapore website...

EX520

Wi-Fi Direct - Network Update (WLAN Ready model)

CX520

Wi-Fi Direct - Yes (Network Update)
Media Remote - Yes (Network Update)
What's New - Yes (Network Update)

First of all what is wlan ready model and what is network update guys ?

under ex520 Wifi direct is network update (wlan ready model). So the ex520 isnt a wlan ready model ?. The ex520 is superior to the cx520 so this should surely have wlan ready right ??

I also dont understand the media remote and what's new which is stated as network update.. Very confused..

Plz englighten me and suggest the best TV guys. I learnt from the web that the CCFL LCDs will lose picture brightness/clarity in the course of time whereas the LED wont. Is this true ?. The price difference comes to 300SGD in singapore page... The cx is priced at $749 and the pricey EX is $1049. Is it worth investing in the ex model ??

Thanx in advance guys

Hi, I bought the 32CX520 only yesterday. This was an upgrade from 32V300A (720p). As I have a lot of BD stuff. But I went for pure LCD again. I was not prepared to spend Rs. 10K more on EX520 just for LED feature as it would not really make difference other than saving some power. Maybe Sony has realised that some customers are aware of the LED gimmick and hence brought out this new LCD model? Both models are Wifi ready. I have connected thru LAN and enjoying the videos. I also updated the firmware to the latest ver 2.06 something. Awesome quality, BD movies look amazing now!!

Well without seeing the tvs sets one can't say about the difference in performance or if they have different panels.
But feature wise the EX520 atleast on paper has more features.
Both have support for wifi you need a Wifi-N based usb dongle.

The other features such as Media remote is unclear at this point since its based on application. What it means is you can use your android phones and your laptop to control the tv.

Both the LED and CCFL will eventually loose their brightness, but i believe the CCFL being tubes may eventually blacken out in some areas ,mostly in the corners.

The features in these tvs mostly depend on the applications installed in the tv meant for asia/india.

@reju
Where did you get it from grey or showroom.
Does it have a opera web browser and can it record videos in USB.

Grey market @29.5K.
Yes, it does have a browser. Couldn't find any info if it's Opera.
Did not come across recording function. I doubt it will be possible as the remote does not have any record button. It has play, next, forward etc.

I believe the recording feature through USB drive as those are PVR features when the TV has a in built Digital tuner (majorly EMEA models).

How much did you pick it up for?Do you notice any motion issues while watching a sports channel?

Hi both are good tvs and even if you buy cx520 its a very good tv in its own way. It depends on your budget. Picture quality wise i dont think there will be much difference. Feature wise there is no difference. The only major difference is looks, Edge led( slimmer ) and low power consumption. Tc.
