hi freinds, new to this forum.pls help me out.i am planning a new home theatre room.planiing to have panasonic ax200 projector with 6x4 screen.roo size 15x30 height 10 feet.i have auditioned sony ht-ddw 5500.it's look nice and powerful.i don;t have any other experience.so please help me out.i also heard abt onkyo ht7200.my budget is 50k - 60 k.i am waiting for ur suggessions.

The sony ddw 5500 is nothing but noise, the sound is heavily coloured and boomy.
The horn tweeters aren't all that musical and the 6.5" cones on the towers with metal grills fail at producing the delicate tonalities.

Dont be swayed by the external looks of the sony ddw5500, Its a rip off.

An option you can look at at the 50-55k mark is the klipsch quintlet system with avr I think.

If you can raise your budget another 20k
you can get cambridge audio sirocco 5.1 set at 38k+24k for denon 1610 avr.

For HTiB, both options look reasonably good..

but for 50-60K budget you can also get separate components.

(AVR, speakers, Sub-woofer) or (AVR + 5.1 speaker set).

IMO.. this will sound even better than the HTiBs mentioned above in your posts..

Hello guys,
I was planning to buy a home theatre system upto 1 lac price range, initially i had plans of buying the sony ddw 5500, but once ive read the above comment i want to opt for the cambridge sirroco 5.1, could you guys suggest me is there anything released recently which is better than ca sirocco 5.1, Could you guys also suggest me the best suitable amp for it and where would I be able to buy this system in India from? Does the sirroco has better bass then sony ddw 5500?

sony is a toy producy beside denon/yamaha/pioneer/marantz products.

for 1 lakh budget a good refciver like 1912 denon and speakers from polk/wharfedale/sonodyne/dali/paradigm........etc many more
