I purchased Sony KDL EX720 - 46inch TV and the experience is amazing. I have not connected anything yet apart from getting a Tata Sky HD connection.
What stumped me is the difficult in connections to any other equipment. I got the Sony person to mounted the TV on the wall, but all connection points are on the back. Removing the TV everytime I want to connect something is painful and scres me to death that I might drop the TV!

So I have a question (I posted the same in a what to Buy thread called HiFi or HTB) - might sound very silly. Is there some kind of port replicator equivalent we find in laptop PCS that would bring out all conections to accessible area from the TV and make connections/ switch connections easy?

interesting question...I have the same TV, but I use only 1 HDMI side port connected to my AVR so doesnt bother much, but yeah ur concern is valid, lets see if anyone can suggest something good :)

you need hdmi splitter / hubs, see below links, some come even with remote for allowing switching

3 IN 1 OUT AUTO SWITCH HDMI SPLITTER HUB FULL HD 1080p (Rs. 2200)

5 PORT HDMI Switch Switcher Selector Hub + Remote 1080p (Rs. 2294)

HDMI Switch/Hub with 3 ports (3 video sources to one video device)+Cosmos Cable | eBay

3 Port HDMI Switch Switcher Selector + Remote control | eBay

Just go to ebay.in and search with keyword "HDMI selector". Just make sure you check that they support FULL HD. In case you have plans to buy a AVR later on you can use the AVR for switching. so plan accordingly.

I faced a similar problem in client viewing rooms. The users were constantly falling through the door with content recorded on different devices. It takes two men and a mule to get the set down, and the mule was not always willing to work.

The solution for me was to get a VESA mount that bolts solidly to the wall, but allows the set to float up to 20 inches from the wall on some rather sturdy pivots and pipes. It even allows for panning and tilting sould the chosen viewing position not be perpendictular to the wall.

Thanks folks for all the responses and help. I learnt several things today.
Most importantly I did not know my TV has a side HDMI port. Thought they were all on the back and the side ones were all USB!
Secondly I did not know there was anything like a HDMI switch in existence! Thank you haisaikat for suggesting. I am now going to buy one!

I went out of the way to buy long HDMI cables to run through the wall behind to hide it. I wish I had asked this question earlier and could have done with shorter size HDMI using the port.

This site is amazing. Thanks again!

OK, I bought GEB - 310250305875 - 5 PORT HDMI Switch as suggested. It has 5 Inputs and 1 Output. I Tried connecting all inputs though the switch and thereon to the TV (Sony KDL EX 720). However this does not work. I tried switching between various HDM selections on the switch) and TV w/o any luck. I tried the same HDMI cables directly to the TV HDMI inputs and they all work find individually. Either the switch is defective (Bought in ebay) or I am doing something wrong. One thing I did not try is a dedicated power to thre switch. I know it can draw power through HDMI Cable just like USB, but not sure if this is an issue. Anyone tried this switch?

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
