Dear Friends,

Need a Sound Bar for my new LED TV. The TV is LG TV and i feel the sound is not enough, it only has a headphone out port and mostly will be used for watching via a STB.

So i have found that sound bars are more costly than home theatres, in amazon home theatre costs even 2500 rs odd which is very shocking and it has good reviews also, making me wonder how cheap these home theatres are :

However i dont have much space to keep speakers at my home and dont want to do any additional wiring over the wall across room for 5.1 channel sound. I would prefer a sound card with wireless subwoofer ( subwoofer which needs only power but wirelessly connects to sound bar)

This is my LED TV Setup. https://imgur.com/gallery/Y9KqpAG
Soundbar will be below the TV and subwoofer either above on right side of wallclock or on opposite side of wall (not shown in pic)

Below Soundbars i have selected as per my budget of 18K

JBL is quality brand @ 17500/- JBL Cinema SB250 Wireless Soundbar with Wireless Subwoofer

Iball seems good on budget of 6K though it has wired subwoofer iBall Soundbar-B3 Woofer

F&D T388 Soundbar Bluetooth Speaker cheapest soundbar with wireless subwoofer

LG Sound bar - 10000 odd at nearby store and feel it will complement my TV and will be controlled via simpex / simplink which is hdmi control via two devices of LG brand.

Please guide me friends.

I am not a experienced member but I think jbl is quite good, you can also check sony ht r3 which is 5.1 (but wired)
There are some sound bars (sony, lg) which provide vitrual surround feature.

Thank you Chayan and Tusharshukla1991
I have shortlisted these models :

Cheap and best model , saw demo at Croma and sounds well, it has got surround sound but has good bass and clear tweeters:

F&D T200X @5500/- - Croma

https://www.amazon.in/F-D-t-200x-TV...F8&qid=1534738567&sr=8-8&keywords=f&d+speaker

Above that System if i really want Surround Sound I should go for either wired or wireless home theatre system:

Saw Sony HT-RT3 - With wall mountable speakers and HT-RT40 with Floor Standing Speakers, will prefer floor standing as it is easy to move, and the wires across room have to be taken on floor and a carpet put whenever i need 5.1 surround sound. 5.1 setup wont be a permanent affair.

Sony HT - RT40 - 22000/-

For wireless sound sytem options we have Samsung Sound Bars with wireless subwoofers and capacity to add their wireless speaker kit :

Samsung HW-K360 - Soundbar with wireless subwoofer and has the capability to add wireless rear speakers. For time being i can adjust with Surround Sound (Virtual) and in future i can add wireless rear speakers also to that sound bar.

Other Options for wireless woofer soundbar / extension capability not known???

On researching various sites, i found that auidophiles do treat these companies as pro and having quality products , like Bose, Yamaha, Onkyo, etc etc but i am not sure about their warranty. One member did shortlist me this soundbar from Yamaha - YAS 107BL for around 20K with option to only connect Subwoofer , but soundbar itself has 2 sub inbuilt and has dolby virtual x surround.

Please do advise me which one will be good. Regarding budget I have only fixed amount in my mind mentally, but my usage will be very less like once a week or only when watching movies on big screen, that time only i will need a good surround sound to complement the big screen and the movie quality.

Thanks

Checkout the JBL Studio 2.0 soundbar. It is a single unit with Sub built in. It was on sale for 8,999 sometime back on JBL site (Amazon had it for 7,999). Single box and no complex wires, decent sound.

I tried this for a few days and quickly returned it on account of grossly insufficient bass for rooms larger than 120 sq. ft., and/or have poor acoustics.

Thanks for letting us know Z@m. I can strike it off my list. I have a feeling, we may not like soundbars much having pure audio experience from full fledged home theatres/stereos.

Thanks Indy70 & Z@m for your Inputs. Indy70 will you be free some day to audition home theatres / sound bars with me at sterling music, nungambakkam . I enquired with them and they have demo of sound bar yamaha and also their website mentions home theatre package from 27K onwards. It will be nice to get some advice regarding buy a AV equipment and you can clear some of my doubts in person and guide me better.

Another idea is we are having the Grand AV Expo at Chennai trade center in September. If you want to wait then you will have wider option there and you can meet a lot of people. I have registered myself and planning to be there.

Hi Friends,

For those who are following this thread, now the two shortlisted soundbars are :

Yamaha YAS - 108 with active subwoofer output ( to confirm and to spend extra $ when i want to add)

LG SK5 - Recently introduced soundbar with DTS X & selling at a very good price of 19K , 10K less than MRP of 29K.

https://www.lg.com/in/home-entertainment/lg-SK5

Since they didnt have stock, took demo of its predessor LG SJ3, which is 320 watts. Though Yamaha soundbar YAS 108 is 120 watts it seemed to have a greater depth or sound quality.

Have asked various shops to give me a call when they do get the Demo of SK5. As both LG SK5 & YAS 108 have the DTS X Virtual surround sound feature, i am planning to go for them.

Thinking to purchase yamaha yas 108. But in dilemma with Polk magnifi mini sound bar too
Which one is better in sound and bass quality

Which one did you buy?

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
