Sound For my HTPC

ASUS Mobo - M2NPV-VM
Point Of View - Geforce GT440 1GB DDR3
Cooler Master Elite 360
Dynet 1GB DDR2 ( will upgrade if i cant play bluray rip movies )

Onkyo - HTS 5100


there are 2 things i can do to get DD / DTS for my HTPC to AVR.

The MOBO has an internal S/PDIF output connector. So the S/PDIF will be the best to use.

like i have asked this before but just want to confirm before buying it from ebay.

If i use a spdif header braket, it can pass DD / DTS to my receiver ? or do i have to use TMT 5. ??

If your HTIB supports HDMI audio, then buy a graphics card.

no it does not support HDMI audio

I'm with Venkat here. For just audio use an optical cable from mobo to the Onkyo.

The MOBO has an internal S/PDIF output connector. So the S/PDIF will be the best to use.

Hi All,

ASUS Mobo - M2NPV-VM

This motherboard has SPDIF. So just Buy the below plate and connect your Onkyo using a RCA cable or an optical cable. Don't buy the audio card. However just make sure that you have the motherboard manual so that you can connect the plate correctly to your motherboard. Also you have to set jumpers correctly on the PCB of the below plate. The below plate will come with a small instruction manual. Read it and set the jumpers correctly.

Which one to buy ??

I am using the same bracket for my MSI motherboard to connect to Yamaha RX-667 AVR. The bracket gives you SPDIF out on RCA as well as optical. I found better result using the RCA cable. With a player like monkeymedia and bypassing the windows mixer, I get very good results.
