Didn't want to clutter the other vintage TT thread. So here's a pictorial story of my SP10 Mk2 plinth built. Thanks to FM Anilva, Sachin, Om, Raghu, Sourav and Joshua(among others) for inspiration and help/guidance.

Bhaskar

Nice work Bhaskar!!

Wonderful work Mr. Bhaskar. EPA 100 tone arm I understand has jewel bearings and one of the best vintage tonearms. I am also planning a plinth build for my SP-25 with AT 1501 tone arm. I am inspired by your plinth build. I am sure it will sound nice.

Nice build Bhaskar..
Does the plinth have feets or is resting directly on marble ?
Regards.

Bhaskar, nice build and a good looking SP10. The EPA100 is the crown jewel. Irrespective what others say or think, SP10 is one of the best turntables out there and is as good if not better than EMT.

Cheers.

I could not bring the original Technics Obsidian plinth due air baggage allowance problem:sad::sad::sad:.....hence this is the first plinth I'm listening it on.

Regards

Why don't you get the obsidian plinth shipped separately, if it's still available? That's one hell of a nice looking plinth, and it is made by the Technics factory of volcanic glass.

I am trying to figure out what Direct coupling of SP-25 to plinth means. I understand direct coupling with plinth makes SP-25 sound fantastic. I think, it should apply for plinth of SP 10 also. After I figure out exactly what it means, I am going to try it on my SP-25 and if it sounds better, I think Bhaskaran can also try it if he wants.

The original Obsidian plinth is still with the seller. It's a gorgeous looking one with smoked dust cover. But I'm not very confident of getting it shipped bcos of it's weight and size. And the fact that obsidian is breakable if not handled properly. Maybe next time when I visit him, I'll hand carry it.

Regards

What I understand, Direct Coupling is the way of connecting the TT directly with the plinth. Instead of decoupling TT using, say, springs or squash balls. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

There must be some procedure for direct coupling. This is what I am trying to figure out
