Yamaha stereo amps are on the brighter side..So any speaker with warm sound (Wharfedale) will be a perfect match....

I currently use this amp with a pair of old sony speakers. I want to replace them because of space and would like to opt for a wall-mounted pair.

The exact amp output details are as follows. Can you please suggest some specific model which would work better.

I think you have swapped the power figures for 6 Ohms & 8 Ohms....6 ohms power for any amplifier is always more than 8 Ohms...

How much Power one needs is dependent on efficiency of speaker...Expressed in db...

Diamond 9.2's are 86db--Lowest efficiency among affordable speakers.....Yamaha AX497 can very well drive them crazy.....

I have listened to Yamah AX 497 few times and say it is rock solid amp for the price....

the wharfedales are a good choice. i've listened to the bose 301's on a yamaha amp and it is pretty good as well. well rounded speaker at the price point

Thanks a lot again guys. It has been a pleasure being in this forum. I was considering going for Bose 301. But I guess they are almost end of their life and they don't have a substituting product. Wharfeadale sounds good choice. What would you suggest in Wharfeadale ? Diamond 10 or 9? Elangoas has suggested 9.2. Is 10 series better than 9? Would it come within my budget of 20K?

Wharfedale 9.x / 10.x series both are good... 9.x BS speakers being front ported & 10.x series being rear ported....

If you are going to place them against the rear wall with minimal space then consider the diamond 9.x BS series....

If you think you can leave some space behind the speaker then 10.x series is good...

FYI - 9.x series BS has been discontinued and replaced by 10.x series..... Also the 10.x series is an improvement over 9.x...But not sure what the improvement is...

There is also an other series called Diamond 100....Check them out too...

if you have listened to the bose and like it dont worry about end of life cycle etc. as long as theyre good you should go for it
