Hello,

I am planning to get a pair of Polk Audio RTiA7 or TSX550T.

I do not want all the bells and whistles. My main is music with an occaisonal movie.

As I have a massive collection of flacs on my PC and CD's my basic and happy requirement is

1. Minimum 100 W RMS (as the polks are rated 200 / 300)
2. Flac playback through USB
3. Sub out.

My max budget is around 40K +/-

A respected fellow member suggested Onkyo TX-8050.

Please suggest. Hoping to hear from you soon.

I am currently in the Middle east for a few weeks now. So your replies would give me some time to search here.

Many Thanks in advance
Best Regards

It will sound good for your budget if you look for a 7.1 channel receiver which has 150W power.

Later if you want to upgrade then it will help you for sure. Also an AVR will power your polk speakers without lacking anything. It will also come with high resolution playback compatibility. What do you say?

I think OP is asking mainly for music, for his need stereo amplifier will suit most.Marantz 5 series and 6 series stereo amplifiers are good for music.

What is your max budget for speakers, Polk's are great for movies, for music would suggest brands like Wharfedale, Tannoy, Paradigm etc. Marantz PM6005 is a great stereo amp for your budget, but do remember most of the stereo amp does not come with USB and sub out port, you need to have a good input source for your amp. Hope this helps!

Hello mikehcm,

Thanks for your reply. My mind seems to have calmed down on Marantz SR 6008 (for USB and Flac). Checked out the polks......they do not suit me. Too tight. Good for mids and movies i guess. Actually there is some major modification involved in my room if I need to get a pair of FS. So as of now I plan to audition Klipsch book shelf RB-81 II. Lets see. In future the SR 6008 will take care of expansion if need be. Any thoughts?
Regards
