Dear FMs

I am facing some wired issues with my Home theater ( no sure whether its SUB or AVR )..I have Denon 1312 AVR and PURE ACOUSTICS Lord 5.1 System w/ 10" Powered Subwoofer. The problem is that when ever I start my home theater... the SUB works fine for 2-3 mins and then goes into standby mode , I guess.. with power led on and then u will not feel the sound effect from SUB.. if I switch OFF the SUB then power it agian.. it will work for 2-3 mins and then same issue :-(

Not sure whats going on ? Any idea , help ...

Regds

turn of auto power option in sub. may be ur sub level in avr is too low . try to increase it ....after that adjust the volume in ur sub only . hope this may help.

^ +1. Yes, in mostly latest subs... there is an option to auto stand by when no signal. But using this option is not good if subwoofer level is low or idle without any low frequency effect for some time like a long conversation (dialogues) in movie. Being idle it will go in stand by mode automatically and then you have to Power ON manually. I would recommend to OFF that option (on the back of subwoofer, above Phase).

Karthi and prepress..

Thanks for your input.. however in my sub there is no " Auto Power button/ option " picture enclosed... Also what all setting I need to check / configure in AVR to contol SUB ? As you said ... " may be sub level in avr is too low " or in other words.. ideal setting for SUB in AVR.

in Denon avr locate thge CH-Level button which also brings up the same menu if you go via Menu->Speaker Settings--> Channel Level. There move the arrows up / dow to get the dB for the sub. set the value to anything between zero and +4 db and see if the problem is resolved? The auto power cut also works for me and never goes out if there is long dialogue with less of lows, rather if I change the output of avr to pure direct then only this happens.

Do not also rule out the possibility that the sub wire is loose from AVR

Thanks all for your feedback...

@ karthi1000 ( disable the subs internal cross over )

- Do you means the crossover knob on the SUB to reduce to Zero ?

@ vijaykarthik123

- I checked the cables and even tried to replace with a new one .. no luck.. the interesting part is that.. some DAY the SUB works fine and some DAY.. no sound/ effect from some .. its making me crazy :-(

@haisaikat

- My setting for speakers and SUB are as follows :

Bass Setting
LPF for LFE - 120 Hz
SW Mode = LFE + main

Channel Level

L/R/C/SL/SR = 0db
SUB = 8db

Cross Over -

L/R/C/SL/SR = 120 Hz

ON SUBwoofer itself

Cross over = 80 Hz
Volume = approx 40 %

Please guide..

on the sub : cross over to max not 80 hz
power the sub directly to ac outlet not via stabilizer, ups
try to play the sub in another setup to see how it plays

@ karthi1000

on the SUB itself..

the cross over should be half or so.. thats why I set it to 80-90 Hz ( this is what i have read in many forums )

set the crossover on sub to its max value, adjust the crossover to 80 (or whatever setting you like) in AVR. let AVR handle it.

So I have the exact same issue with the same Sub. I tried all the suggestions mentioned above (except placing sub in different setup). I have the crossover on max in Sub and at 80 on avr. Freq is at 4DB. But still no luck. It stops making sound after about a min. Test tone from avr makes sound but is very low after a min.

And when I turn off the sub I hear a thud (is that normal?).
Suggestions plz.
