Looking for a 55" Full HD TV LED with a budget around 1 Lakh. Important requirements are Picture quality and viewing angles. Not really bothered about the smart features.

Audition the Sony KDL-55W800D .. I saw it and compared it with Sony's latest range and found it better !! It's retail price is 1.3 lacs but I can see it being available for as low as 1.1 lacs online .. With the exchange price for your existing TV, I am sure you should be able to come in well within your budget, possibly even at 90,000

Let me know how your audition goes. Ask the dealer to demo alongside their latest 55" TV

Any other models from other brands that are below the 1 to 1.2 Lakhs mark? I don't need 4K TV as SD content upscaled to 4K would look horrible. And 50% channels are still SD.

This will be a living room TV and my main purpose is Tata Sky and Movies through Media player/Blu Ray Player.

What about TH60C300DX (60" Panasonic FHD, IPS Panel, non-3D, non-smart basic TV)? It's available at Snapdeal for 82k and at Amazon for 83k. You may get it at a lower price too. If you want only 55", try TH55C300DX. It's available for 65k at Shopclues (not very good reviews of Shopclues though but you can try other sellers/marketplace).

How is the picture quality of this model compared to Sony? Does anybody have this model? Pricing is not a problem. It's available for 60K with my local electronics store.

From what I understand, Sony uses VA panels (please research though) while this one uses IPS panels. Advantage of IPS panels is wider viewing angles but blacks may appear grayish in IPS panels. The theme behind Panasonic's launch of THxxC300DX series was to provide a basic model with largest screen possible for a given price point. I think 55" Micromax FHD TV sells at ~40k. Vu 4k 65" sells at 1.2 lakhs (just saying, but I've heard that the upscaling algorithm of Vu is nothing compared to those of Samsung, Sony, LG and Panasonic).

Sony has better refresh rates! The bigger the screen the easier to notice the artifacts. I was easily able to see issues on the panny. IMO 55w800d is far superior

Its LG low end model demo yourself and see if it suits yourself , dont purchase without demo

I have checked and this model is not in display in any of the LG brand showrooms in my city. How is this TV compared to the Sony W800D as the Sony is 30K extra?

Do check out Panasonic. I am not conversant with the current models, but I find my Panasonic E6B to be absolutely brilliant. I bought it in late 2013.

how is the LG LH600t model in terms of picture quality?

Even I am in the lookout for a 55 inch tv under 1 lakh. I have seen the demo in croma. the picture looked sharp and the color reproduction was fine. as they were playing high res BD demo tape. But looking at the bezel size, I think this is the cheaper DLED version and not edge or OLED. I even called their customer care guys to ask however they also did not have any idea. Also there is no mention of the refresh rate on the official websites. So i am staying away for the time being till such time all my doubts are answered.
