Suggest a 60" TV

not mentioned budget. The best if not only tv that comes to my mind is the samsung 64F800, one of the BEST tv's in the market. Only the Panasonic VT60 and ZT60 might be better, but they are not launched in India and are priced very high. The F8500 is the ONLY bright plasma that is also suited for bright rooms.

If you want to look at LED, then no tv comes close to the F8500 except maybe Samsung series 8 which is priced very high and available in 55 and 65 inches.

Most LEDs are available in 55inches. However there is a Samsung series 6 in 60inches which I don't quite like. It is not like the top tier tv's. I also like the Sony triluminos series also available only in 55inches.

Decide you budget and then look for the best tv in that price. If you can stretch your budget for the F8500, nothing like it.

Hi pbananth

Here are some links to understand the basic difference in TVs...

Based on your viewing distance, you need to decide on the size and the required features / connectivity you would expect in the TV.....the most important thing to look out for is warranty as today's TVs last between 3-9 years....this is the harsh reality and there are many fourm members who have posted issues they have faced after just 1 or 2 years of use....

Sharp and Toshiba are the only ones offering 3 years warranty. The Sharp Quattron boast of 4 color technology which is indeed awesome....

Sharp

Toshiba too has some good options....

You can walk into an electronics store and do a side by side comparision and decide what appeals to you in looks, connectivity, performance and ofcourse budget....

There is not much difference between a 50 inch and 60 inch and you need to take a call to decide on size vs features and connectivity options available...would suggest to go for a TV model which fits your expectations and need.

Hope this helps. The most imp thing to keep in mind is the price and check with different stores for the best rate backed with warranty. Personal experience suggest that Vijay Sales although claiming to offer 5-8% discount from MRP, you would be well better off getting around 15-24% discount on MRP with the local TV dealer in your area....this worked for me when I purchased my Toshiba LED TV. If you pay in cash Vijay Sales stores manager can further reduce the rate....

Hi, Let me make it simpler for you to understand. Plasma tv's are known for reference level picture quality, something which all tv's aspire to reach. The BEST tv's in the world are plasma tv's unmatched in picture quality. However they are best suited for low light or dark room conditions.

LED, on the other hand are extremely bright and best suited for very bright rooms. Some of the hi end LEDs are now getting better and can almost match plasma's in certain aspects of picture quality.

Here's my pick:

Plasma
Samsung 64F8500 (my pick) - the only bright plasma also suited for brighter rooms with reference like picture quality.
Panasonic 60S60 - budget level plasma, excellent value for money, performs much better than many similar priced LEDs

LED
Samsung F8000 - Samsungs best LED, almost as good as the F8500, avail in 55 and 65 inches.
Samsung F7500 - lower down, very similar picture quality like F8000 but for a lower price. Excellent value for money. Available in 55 inches.
Sony W900 / W800 series - giving Samsung serious competition. Priced lesser than Samsung. Available in 55 inches.

You can go lower down in the series for Sony/Samsung but if you have the budget these are the tv's you want to check. Please demo all the ones possible and then decide. Suggest to demo various video content right from HD to SD.

Great.. Thanks..
What about LG..I like passive 3d..
Budget upto 2l. Viewing distance 10 to12ft.

passive 3D is great no doubt. But I would not spend so much money ONLY for 3D. You want a good overall tv that you can also use for 3D. how much 3D content are you going to watch. Better to go with something that gives you stunning overall performance. The new Sony 2014 tv's now have passive 3D but again they have switched their panel to IPS which is not as good as their earlier PVA panels.

Lg LEDs with passive 3D might be really good for watching 3D content but can't match Sony/Samsung when it comes to 2D content, so overall they are better tv's. All depends on what your priority is.
