Hi,

I want to convert my exiting PC to HTPC. The configuration of PC: MSI G41 motherboard, 4 GB DDR3 RAM, 500 GB HDD. I want to add graphic card in as possible as low budget for 5.1 DTS sound.

I have avr of yamaha rx v565, wharfedale dx1 hcp speakers set and a 42" HD led tv.

Pls guys suggest me a VFM graphic card. I m not interested in gaming.

Thanx

Vijras

If you can find a Nvidia GT440 it would be the best bet or else the latest generation 610 series also should support HD audio and i believe your Yamaha AVR also should be able to decode HD audio of DTS-HD and Dolby Tru-HD formats. You can check the AMD cards like 54xx or 55xx series or below versions as well.

ATI R7 240 is a good choice. It is not priced nicely though :p

its already a htpc just connect it to a screen via dvi or hdmi depending upon what your tv/screen supports

for the formats get a radeon r7 240 or 260 gpu

always try to get the latest cards series even for low end due to durability in terms of drivers support

There is a "Used" Zotac GT 440 on sale in eBay India.

being a game freak, i would say graphic card is only meant for graphic performance not sound. rather you should have invested in MB like MSI GD65, which gives 5.1 surround output with lots of output options like coaxial, optical spdif, analogue 5.1 and HDMI. I would rather suggest to buy a good mid range graphic card like GTX750ti, ATI r9 270x, GTX760 which are great all rounders.

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
