Suggestion on HTIB with optical in

Hello guys,


I bought a LG LD550 TV last week and I want to purchase either a HTIB or a 5.1 surround speakers .I have a optical out audio out present in my TV.I am thinking of using this with HTIB or 5.1 speakers.


I have some doubts on these.

1. Whether this audio out will server 5.1 sound or will it be only 2.0 sound.

2. Also please suggest some systems with this optical in input .

What is the source of Sound? If that itself is not 5.1, output would be 2.0

Are you looking at playing 5.1 movies with TV's built in USB video player? Or are you looking at 5.1 output in TV programs.

tv player through USB.. might have dolby digital if has optical out .. but will not have dts..

but yes it will be able to give 5.1 if the source is 5.1 as stated above..

onkyo 3300 will be best bet for 22-24k.
