Hello everyone,
I am on a hunt for the best TV within the price range of 400k.

My Current TV is a LG 55LW5700.

My Viewing Distance is 11ft.

My Requirements:
  1. Huge Size (65" atleast)
  2. No Backlight Bleed
  3. 1080p Resolution
  4. 2D Bluray Movies
  5. Gaming

After a lot of research I have narrowed down to two models:
  1. Samsung UA65F8000
  2. Samsung UA75F6400

I really want to buy the Samsung UA75F6400 but I don't know whether a Samsung 2013 6 Series will beat the picture quality of my 2011 LG LW5700 Series.

Is buying a better Series of a Brand extremely Important?

I really need help as I have gone mad thinking.

Thanks in Advance.

With more 4k tvs launches and curved tvs,the prices of 65" and 75" 1080p tvs will drop.So i suggest you to wait.

The 75F6400 is a edge lit tv,so one cannot rule out back light bleed in such a large television,it has micro(software) dimming unlike models from rival company which have local dimming.

I can't wait sadly because I am far sighted & tired of squinting to focus on 55" from 11ft.
What is the difference between micro (software) & local dimming.

Samsung doesn't explain clearly but in micro dimming the edge/back LED don't dim ,where as in local dimming the edge/back LED dims.

Did you look at projectors.

Aren't all tv's edge lit?
I feel claustrophobic in darkness so no pj's sadly.

Most tvs are edge lit but some of those can also dim certain zones like the Sony W950,X9004 etc.
Some tvs like the 65HX925 is backlit local dimming tv ,still available in some flagship Sony stores.

Well I really want a 75" so can't buy 65HX925

Well you have shortlisted a 65".

Anyway, Sharp has 70" and 80" sizes. See if you could get the 70" within your budget.

Since this does not seem to be for regular TV, have you considered a projector? You could get a great projector AND a great HT setup for that budget and any size of screen you could care for!

I shortlisted to ask if it's worth the extra money.

I am in the same boat as you. My viewing distance is 14 ft and my 55 inch f6400 is not doing justice. I have seen the 75 inch model when I went overseas and was not too impressed. There was bleeding and also the edge was noticeably darker than the rest of the screen. I guess being an edge lit tv and such a huge screen has its drawbacks. As of now 64f8500 is the one I am considering.

why a plasma?

well thats a long topic..plasma offers superior picture than led..
fact..even plasma bashers will acknowledge that..
anyway..

let me suggest you..why a tv... only 65 inches..a huge heavy piece of electronic..full of hassle

with 4 lakh budget you must get sony or JVC projectors at 150 inch size..i belive no tv can match up that experience..unless you have a pj..i think this is a no brainer

@udit - The f8500 has splendid picture quality ( have seen it in person for extended periods ) and with its enhanced brightness levels it works well for my well lit living room. It may still be a little small for my viewing distance but i dont see anything else in the market. 4k tvs are in their infancy stage with absolutely ridiculous pricing. A projector would be impractical in my space and also i am not very enthused by the idea of getting a projector.

I agree but plasma still have slight image retention & heat like a dunno what.

A projector would be impractical in my space too and also I too am not very enthused by the idea of getting a projector or a plasma.

I guess samsung 75" it is then.

You may also want to check out the latest 4k range TVs at lower sizes (55, 65 inches and onwards). No other HD LED tvs come even close to the picture quality against 4K tvs.

I have seen Sony's 4K Tvs and picture quality wise they looked brilliant. The 65 inch costs around 400k, which should fit your budget while checking other boxes on sharpness and picture quality. Not sure if you would get a 75 inch size though (there is 85 inch with a cost of over 1300k).

P.S - Most of the Samsung LEDs I have seen have bleeding effects. Saying this from personal experience from 55 inch 8-series which gets worse after a year!

Well online it's said that to see the full benefit of 1080p a 1080p 75" should be at 10ft & to see the full benefit of 4k a 4k 85" should be at 5ft so 4k is kinda over hyped in my opinion.

http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-33199_7-57566079-221/why-ultra-hd-4k-tvs-are-still-stupid/

my med equipment heat & so does a plasma so that's a issue.

Also I have 66" by 38" viewable space on my wall so a pj is too big.

Got a big discount on the Samsung 75" with a tab 3 free so 99% buying that now.

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
