Will someone, please recommend a suitable FT for Naim Nait XS please?

Primary use will be traditional 2-channel stereo with occassional use of a subwoofer. Room is fairly large, rectangular (approx. 5x8 mts with, two large windows, one standard size window, two doors (one main entrance and the other for access to gallery) a large Arch in between (think of it as two sitting rooms separated by the large Arch in the middle).

Musical preferences: Rock (all genre) Fusion Jazz, upbeat Country and Latin.

Look forward to receive your valuable input.

Since you did not mention a particular budget, I guess you will get speakers from a few hundreds to thousands.

I have paired Naim with Focal speakers and also Quads (both need enough room to sound great. But once you got the placements right, it is absolutely melodious). Also amongst the other recommendations such as Spendors etc., you may also want to look at Reference Veena (reference3a.com). These pair very well with Naim as well.

Honestly, thank you everyone for your valuable time and input.

Was seriously considering the NM2 and even convinced a dealer in Jeddah (KSA) to import a pair for me. However, held back after reading various user reviews about a loud "thud" sound from the woofer when playing at loud volumes. Lot of folks pointed this to the woofer reaching limits when used with hi-powerd amps. Don't know if 60 wpc of the Nait XS can be considered as "hi-power" bcoz some experts say Naim's 60 wpc equals 100 wpc of others - brave and bold claim ain't it?

Once I had the option of ProAc Studio 130 but the Naim dealer thought it may not be a good combination. Instead, he recommended the NM2.

Another dealier recommends FS Toy Towers for the Nait XS and is willing to import a pair. Total final cost will be around Rs. 1.25 lakhs (shipping to India and customs NOT included). Someone kindly give your thoughts on this set-up please?

Difficult to find hi-end audio gear where I live and work. Must rely on user reviews and go for "blind buys". Been lucky so far.

Genuinely seek guidance from the experts of this forum please...

Blueturtle, who don't you take a few days off and fly to Dubai? There is a Naim distributor there who has a variety of speakers connected at various price points. An audition is absolutely necessary.

Cheers

Hi BT:

Those NM2 are serious pairing, synergy wise, with Naim XS, but if that 'thud' is going to popup in high volume, it's an issue. Yeah, the ProAc is sure going to be on the bright side with Naim, could be fatiguing in the long run, so better be avoided. However, I would strongly advise leaning towards Spendor - neutral speakers, warm, could really gel with Naim sound.

Can't really comment on the Toy pairing with Naim, never heard any SF paired with Naim so to speak. On the Naim 60 wpc, yes its true what you heard; i've heard the Naim 5, 50 wpc, driving with enough grunt and power an Ikon 6, thought it could drive even more power-hungry speakers; with bags of power in the 'reserve'.

:)

Thank you Vinod.

It's certainly nice to hear about the NM2 snyergy with the Nait XS. Now, about the "thud" issue, as Gopi has rightly pointed out (in my other thread on Arcam Solo & rDock), the "thud" seems to be an issue only at real loud volumes. Generally, I enjoy music at average volume but NEVER go to real high volumes. Hopefully, Nait XS' 60 wpc may not be an issue with the NM2?

Present options are to fly to Dubai and visit the Naim dealer or let the trader in Jeddah import the NM2 and then drive there (I live 400 kms away) with the Nait XS and audition.

Though I've read various users talking highly of NM2 and Naim synergy, I've not yet heard anyone talking specifically about the NM2 with the Nait XS. Anyone with this combo or having heard it, kindly share your thoughts please?

Thank you everyone, once again, for your valuable time and wise guidance.

Hi BT:

Yeah, if time permits, please make that 'special journey' to Dubai and hear the XS with many combos; see you're treading into superior amp and speaker territory, so please don't take 'blind' chances, my honest opinion.

Also, please visit the Naim forum, you might get some lead.

:)

Digging up an old thread, does anyone has Naim XS in their chain, would appreciate if you can post your reviews on this amplifier. Also is it possible to have a demo in Bangalore?

I have naim5i, however have listened to XS , which is just a bigger brother to 5i and it sound really good. No you can't audition naim in Bangalore as there are no dealers.

Thanks Palanivel,

What speakers does your 5i power, can you please write in detail about the sound quality and ability of the amp to power a floor stander like T6 or MA GS20

Thanks

It should be able to power any FS speakers. I listen in moderate volume only, I never had to cross 8 o'clock position, which means about less than 10% of usage. I use MA RS6

A beautiful, well-constructed speaker with class-leading soundstage, imaging and bass that is fast, deep, and precise.
