Now this is a question which half the planet is asking the other on the planet... which 55 inch 4 K TV to buy?

I am planning to pick up TCL 55 inch 4 K this ID sale from Amazon. Since there are great TV connoisseurs in this forum, I will request honest opinion on my choice. Yes I want to limit the budget to under 50k. Also, how does it perform compared to Vu Pixelight or Iconium?

Also what is the difference between the two models in the subject line. I will be connecting Minix U1 box with the TV so I really don't care if there is android or not. The Minix U1 has Android and all the apps I want. So if I can save some dough on TV being pure Android, I dont mind.

Thanks in advance.

L55P2MUS is a certified Android TV while L55P2US isn't. And also note that L55P2US is "HDR Ready", whatever that means, but somewhat suggests it can't really do HDR. Out of the two my pick would be the L55P2MUS. But would also suggest you to have a look at the TCL 55C2MUS. I've seen the panel in person and found it to be better than the P2 series of TVs.

Any reason to choose L55P2MUS over iFFalcon 55"? As far as I can see iFFalcon has newer Android 7.0, HDR with wide color gamut and micro dimming, 2.5GB RAM (500 MB more than TCL) and is cheaper as well.

I recently got the TCL 55P6US after reading dozens of reviews and several showroom visits. I had a restricted budget and had always heard good things about TCL P6 and R series on HDTVTest and RTings.

The 55" P6 series has very limited availability online. The P6 sold in India looks exactly the same as R700 series sold in the US but the panel quality is much worse than the R series. US is very important market for TCL and hence they get the best while rest of the world gets worse but still good performing (for the price) panels.

Indian P6 is essentially same panel as the 2yr old S500 series in the US. It supposedly has HDR 10 support, however the panel itself isn't bright enough to do HDR justice.
Viewing angles are strictly average on the 55"P6. Any deviation from the center and the colors/brightness take a hit. Otherwise once calibrated to proper white point, the colors are realistic and Black levels were way better than I expected. In pitch dark room , the black bars do appear dark gray but way better than the IPS LG LED I have. In normal light conditions , blacks appear very deep. Gray uniformity is decent. There is some dirtiness here and there but acceptable. Backlight bleed is very minimal and only noticeable on the bottom left corner.

All in all a very good TV with low brightness as the major cons.

Any info about about TCL 55P65US (available on amazon only) . There is info available regarding TCL 55P6US but no info about P65US even on TCL site. It's currently at 40k on amazon
