While we are discussing the physical ear, the metaphorical ear is as pertinent. Having/developing an ear for the sound and for music is such a key competence in this hobby!

On a more serious note ...

I bought STAX Electrostatic "Ear Speakers" more than a decade ago.

The High Electrostatic voltage, close to the ear canal, caused the hair in my ears to (probably) stand up, causing a ear scratch sensation / irritant.

I have never seen this mentioned in any review of Electrostatic headphones ....
