I had been working on setting up a 7.1.4 surround sound system with Wharfedale speakers, and everything was coming together perfectly. Here's what I had invested in so far:
Speakers:
Wharfedale Lintons for Fronts (x2)
Wharfedale Diamond 12c for Center (x1)
Wharfedale WWS-65 for Surrounds (x4)
Wharfedale WCM-65 for Ceiling (x4)
SVS PB1000 Pro Subwoofer
AVR & Amps
Denon x3700H
Emotiva BasX A3 3-Channel Amplifier
Projector:
Formovie Theater with Elite Screen
I wanted to go full pre-out on my Denon x3700H, the last piece of the puzzle was finding the right power amplifier for the remaining eight channels. After some research, I came across O&B’s 8-channel and 11-channel amplifiers. A conversation with Aniket, along with positive reviews from the forum, convinced me to give it a try. Since I had already made a significant investment in my setup, I didn’t want to overspend or let go of the investment in the build so far. Aniket helped customize the amplifier’s power to suit the rest of my system, we agreed on a price, and I decided to take the plunge.
When I finally had the chance to unbox the amplifier, I was impressed by the solid packaging which ensured its safe arrival. The amplifier itself is massive, weighing close to 50 kg, and its size is larger than most typical multichannel amps. The build quality is exceptional, and the back panel is thoughtfully designed. It comes with a clear layout that makes connections and installation hassle-free. As for sound quality, the amplifier really complements my Lintons, delivering performance equivalent/better than many higher-priced alternatives available in market. The amp itself is neutral, but one will clearly notice the difference in bass.
One of the best features of these amplifiers is their future expandability. If I choose to upgrade to an 11-channel setup, I’ll only need to add the additional channels – there’s no need to replace the entire amplifier.
All in all, I’m extremely happy with my purchase and thrilled with how my entire setup has come together.
I hope this helps someone looking for an external amp but not looking to spend a fortune on big brands.
