Hi,
I am confused between Sony KDL40HX750(2012) and Samsung UA40F6400ARXZN(2013), both come in same price range. Please suggest which will be a better choice in terms of picture quality and features..
Regards,
Ajithlal

I don't mean to hijack your thread, I too am confused between the sony 42W800 and the samsung 40F6400. Why do you recommend samsung over sony?

Cheers

Okay... since we are discussing both hx750 and w8...

For Ajith, I never liked the hx750. The picture has some sort of hazy feel to it. Try any settings you'll still be left wanting that punch and clarity.

For shrayv (that's a difficult one to spell), the W8 looks great if you plan to hang a bulb directly above the tv like in stores. Once you tone down the settings in a moderately lit room then it is not as impressive. Areas where it lacks are:
Pictures that have mix of dark and light content (almost all movies).
SD performance not as sharp as Samsung if you watch lot of cable, DTH or DVD.
Shadow details not impressive.

It's like LG LM 6 or 7 series but much better in all respects (not sure of 3D).

W8 does not have a hazy picture like the HX750.
Samsung F6 series has better picture than both Sony.

That's my opinion of watching those displays in person and having played around with their settings.

Normally sony is reknowned for its picture clarity..by the way all 2013 models of sony( which comes with W) are of IPS panel? Is this panel make new sony move back?

No, maybe IPS panels earned a bad name due to LG's implementation. I felt the Sony W8 looked really good. Why don't you demo one? It might be the right tv for you :)

Maybe the next demo I may come back more impressed more with W8. I plan a lengthy demo this weekend with DVD, BR and Disney WoW. There's a 55F6400 right next to 55"W800. Very excited.

But don't just go by my opinions. It's your money and eyes :)

Edit: LG 2013 models show no improvement over 2012. Same dull lifeless pictures.

I did a short demo of w42 and ex40, in which w42 outshined ex40.but in forum discussions it is moved aside because of lacking enough black level due to its ips panel compared to Sony's existing va panel machines.can any one shed more light into this?

Thanks Shaiju. The price for the 40F6400 in the grey market was 52K. Looking forward for your impressions after the detailed demo. I was also considering the 40F7500 but I'm not sure whether the grey market prices are less than 60K.

Cheers,
Shray
