Hi every one ,
I have a really really old Sony Trinitron at my parents home , and it was doing the job for the folks at home really well , Its never affected me cos i'm mostly traveling out of the country , anyway I have decided to buy them/gift a new 32 inch LCD or LED television, budget less than 35 K

Here are my requirements ;
1. Good looking Aesthetic construction .

2. Should be able to play most audio video formats through USB .
such as DIV X , XVID , AVI , MPEG , WMA , BMP , JPEG , MP3 , etc etc etc as these days most videos are available online .

3. Should have sufficient volume so as to be able to stand alone without the need of a home theatre.

4. Since its just for my parents daily viewing, and the occasional movie / songs via the USB , value for money aspect .

5. Reliability , maintenance free.

So far have found that the Sony Bravia KDL 32EX400/B (online) I cant figure out what the B stands for ...seems to be looking the part , however in stores here only the KLV model is available, Sony Brand is etched in the home as the trinitron has lasted over 2 decades, however was also impressed with the 32 LG LD 650

Q . Can the codecs software etc be updated for the above models ?

but am also told LG has some good competitive products ...but I'm not sure about the aesthetic appeal

I found the following thread most useful
http://www.hifivision.com/television/10947-selection-32-inch-lcd-tv.html

can someone also throw a lil light on aspects like motion flow and it is really required , wireless ready , netcast , true voice etc etc , is it worth investing in an entry level LED backlit such as Sony Bravia 32EX600 , would a set top box be required.

Am in the country till the new year , would taking a decision later like say post christmas '10 bring down prices substantially for me hold on to buying .....etc

i personally compared the samsung c550 with sony ex400 from a wide angle and noticed that the image of sony had turn darker while with the sammy it was still good to the eyes... and the cost of sony lcd's are high with they not playing divx files thru usb and the sony doesnt support external hard discs also..

so i think u should go for samsung or as ranjit mentioned the lg ld460 or ld 550(with motionflow tech) is also a very good option

i am also looking for 32'' lcd and will probably buy lg32ld550...

Choice is yours!!!

Thank you everyone for all the assistance ......
I have bought the Sony KDL32EX400 for 28K in the Open market , its picture quality is awesome with just the normal local cable operators line, no DTH or set top box is needed , sound is substantial to not necessitate a home theater(40% volume is really loud but its depends on your room size), and the price is even more awesome for a Full HD LCD TV . Just for anyone who also plans to buy in a similar category , I must say the LG LD 650 was the other option and it was a close fight , with LG having a better features and almost the same picture quality , however its not available in the Open market and I have chosen looks(sharp edges over curved panel) , reliability and PRICE over fancy features. Also the model available in the stores is the KLV version which plays fewer formats on USB , the KDL plays many more formats. I must mention that every sales man has recommended SONY BRAVIA for trouble free viewing.

Many thanks to all those who have commented in many of the forums here.

NOTE*Price for price the LG is a better buy in my opinion If you want to buy either of them from the store that is.
