My wofe and I did a 2 week trip covering Delhi(met FM Subho in Gurgaon, spoke to avidyarthy), then on to Chandigarh, Amritsar( Harmindar Sahib, Jallianwala Bagh, Wagah), then Bathinda/Ferozepur and finally Jamshedpur(met FMs Prosenjit and aks07).
Amritsar is touristy and as expected, every auto, rick or cab is ready and willing to rip you off. The visit to Harmindar Sahib was easily the highlight of our trip-did the night illuminated trip complete with langar and one in the morning, thoroughly enjoyed the clean and holy environment. Wagah is overrated-the identical one we saw at Husseinwala, near Ferozepur, a couple days later was well worth the trouble of driving 2 1/2 hour each way.It was close up and excellent. Parades with high foot kicking has to be seen to be believed Great Amritsari stuffed paranthas, lassi and tasty winter veggies.Didnt have a checklist of non veg places to go, got ripped off at the one place we went to..Amritsar is unhygienic, very poorly maintained and has a long way to go.
