I need to buy a new TV. I'm getting a new place and will be mounting it above the fireplace.

I'm thinking LED, 50", and about $1000. I honestly don't really care about 3D. My wife and I will be finishing the basement eventually and that is where money will really be spent on a home theater room.

I've looked at the following TVs:

http://www.amazon.com/Sony-KDL60EX64...2949324&sr=1-2

http://www.amazon.com/Sony-KDL-50R55...pr_product_top

Amazon.com: Samsung UN55ES6100 55-Inch 1080p 120Hz Slim LED HDTV (Black): Electronics

Amazon.com: Samsung UN55EH6000 55-Inch 1080p 120Hz LED HDTV (Black): Electronics

I've always been a SONY guy, and I'm thinking that is the way I'll go.

Any advice would be appreciated.

You should seriously look at plamsa if you are planning the TV and HT in basement. Look at Panasonic plasma ST60 rated 5-star by C-Net. For sheer picture quality, black levels, shadow details, color accuracy (natural colors), etc., you just can't beat a plasma. Plasma is not ideal for bright room conditions but since you are thinking of basement, I am suggesting this option.

Amazon.com: Panasonic VIERA TC-P50ST60 50-Inch 1080p 600Hz 3D Smart Plasma HDTV (Includes 2 Pairs of 3D Active Glasses): Electronics

If you have the budget, you can go for larger size such as 55" or even 60".

If you are absolutely inclined towards LED and in particular Sony, think of the latest 2013 models such as 47W802A or the 2012 model 46HX850. But note that LED TVs will be slightly more expensive at higher sizes.

We plan on buying a separate TV for the basement once we finish it.

I'm just looking for a TV for my living room right now.

Purchase the Audiolab 6000A Integrated Amplifier at a special offer price.
