Hi,
i'm new here don't and don't know much about using forum.
At present i have a panasonic ak 88 hifi system having 5cd changer,360w rms, 17cm super woofer and 5 speaker system. i bought it around 2001 and used it sound as a benchmark to compare with others. i love this system so much that last year (2012) i bought a second hand from OLX for the bed room at a scrap value of 1500rs.When i bought the system nothing was working expect for you can turn it on. Since i'm repairing and assembling amps and speakers i was able to fix all the things and the system works fine now.
1)But i think its time to move to high end audio. My biggest concern is that when we play bass tracks (MTX jackhammer test song) the low frequencies are missed may be due to small driver 17cm/6" woofer. I recently checking review about Sonodyne 2605 V3 and my ques is how can 6 and 1/2" speaker produce such a good sound? is it due to enclosure of floor standing speakers?
2)Panasonic Ak 88 has good midrange with 4 & 1/2" driver so must not be an issue with sonodyne.
3) Should i start using my own assembled 2 &1/2" floor standing speaker with a good amp. It is 3way 8" pioneer woofer (TS 2099 car woofer) 4 &1/2 " mid and a black dome treeter. bass is very good in this speaker and are able to produce that low frequency i was talking about above, but i'm not able to decide between my own or a good company speaker.
4) 2001 bought ak 88 had 2 super woofers, one in each front speaker and i have managed to get 4 from second market near red fort and 4 individual boxes are assembled mached to the specs of the original and an STK 1000w-1500w amp (own assembled) to drive them. taking line in from the bass driving wire of ak 88s bi-wiring system, this increase the bass to hights however that low frequency is still missing so thinking to remove these 4 additional woofers and add 12" dual cone woofer in a box. Dual cone or 2*12" woofer is not a choice but a compulsion as there is no bridge mode in this stereo stk amp.
Please note that my requirement is only for listening to stereo music and might upgrade to 5.1 or 7.1 in future. A good pair of speaker and a matching amps is all i need for high volume music in the evening with a cup of tea.
Thanks,
Chakresh
